The A5 in Chirk has reopened following an ‘ongoing incident’ earlier this afternoon involving a woman.

The incident took place between the A483 Halton Roundabout and the B5070 Chirk Road / Station Road (Gledrid Roundabout) at around 4:15pm this afternoon.

Both lanes were closed for over an hours, but have since reopened.

James Robertson has been in touch to say: “A5 northbound closed from Lord Moreton to McDonald’s another RTC by the looks of it just after the bridge this time.”

While Katie has tweeted that traffic has already started to back up through Chirk.

NWP Control Room have since tweeted: “A483 at Chirk, Mcdonalds Roundabout will be closed for a short while due to ongoing incident. Avoid if possible.”

UPDATE: We have been told that the incident is not a road traffic collision between vehicles, but sadly involves an individual. Police were called to the incident just before 4pm and one woman has been airlifted to hospital.
