Wrexham Council are advertising for an ‘arts super-hero’ who is also and entrepreneur, plus a project manager, and inspirational leader – all in one.

The informal job advert reads: “We are about to embark on one of the most exciting arts projects in Wales. We’re building a multi-million pound indoor market, arts and cultural space in the heart of our town. And we’re creating a forward-thinking trust to develop the role of the arts in our economy and communities.

“We need someone really talented to lead this transformation.”

The job role could have been wider but plans for a Wrexham Cultural Trust were scrapped back in July, however the Arts Hub / Peoples Market is being placed in a separate ‘trust’ entity. The current total estimated cost of the redevelopment is £4,563,500 with £2.3 million from the Arts Council Wales, £700,000 from the Welsh Government’s Vibrant and Viable Places scheme and £1,563,500 from Wrexham Council.

As we revealed following accidentally leaked documents a year ago the project will have to be subsided year on year, deemed a cost of culture at the time with it being noted at the time “there will never be a point where the arts and cultural element makes a profit.”

The job ad goes on for the role , “If you’re an experienced arts professional with strong business instincts, we could be made for each other. We are looking for someone who can lead a committed arts team through a period of massive change and innovation, delivering activities that really engage people – both on-site and in our local communities.

“Someone who can work with local businesses. Support creative start-ups. And inspire people to get behind the concept of art as a powerful driver of individual, community and economic growth.
We need an arts super-hero. An entrepreneur. A project manager. And an inspirational leader. Rolled into one.”

If you wish to apply for what is described as a ‘brilliant opportunity’ be quick as the closing day is this Friday 25th November – and if you are interested ask for an application pack from the Human resources Service Centre, Guildhall, Wrexham, Ll111AY or by telephone on 01978 292012
