Almost 3000 people attended a large jobs fair held at Glyndŵr University yesterday, with two people offered jobs inside the first 60 minutes.

Organisers told us today: “We’re still over the moon at how well the World of Jobs event went!”

Jobcentre Plus, in partnership with European Employment Service (EURES), brought over fifty employers, with hundreds of vacancies to people from across North Wales.

2825 people were counted through the doors at the event, with two people being offered jobs within the first hour.

Wrexham.com were told: “Employers have been really positive with their feedback, particularly with the quality of potential recruits they were able to speak to at the event.

“New Directions Education were particularly pleased to have spoken with over fifty people at the event, and intend to secure work for the majority of these soon.”

“This is a huge event for North Wales”, said John Bisby, the district manager for the North & Mid Wales Jobcentre Plus network. “It’s so good to get employers together with potential candidates in this way”.

“The quality of jobs on offer is a real fillip for everyone who experienced the event”

EURES ran a series of interactive workshops on working and living abroad, which were all very well-attended, raising the profile of working in another country. Advisors were on hand to guide people through the process and we are told many ‘took their first serious look’ at such work. Workshops were also run by local training providers to assist people with looking for work.

“It’s been fantastic,” added Roz Norris, senior manager of Wrexham Jobcentre. “We’re so pleased the event has been of so much benefit to employers and jobseekers from across North Wales.”

Future events will be advertised via the twitter feed @WrexhamJCP, or you can keen an eye on the Wrexham.com Jobs page with embedded feeds (and soon to be updated with something more useful!)
