A new 24 bedroom lodge could soon be built next to a popular Wrexham pub and restaurant.

In an application submitted to Wrexham Council it has been proposed that the ‘lodge’ is built on land adjacent to The Plas Coch on the Plas Coch Retail Park.

The plans are described as being part of a “nationwide development programme’ by Marstons, which is “looking to provide high quality and best value overnight accommodation on selected sites across their estate”.

The planning application continues onto say: “These facilities will be provided within small scale lodges and will cater for the modern day traveller, be they on business or at leisure, as individuals or as a group or family.”

This would include a mixture of rooms, including family, double and twin bedrooms.

A breakfast service for guests would be provided in The Plas Coch, along with a reception service for those checking into the lodge.

If given the go ahead, the new development will create 10 full and part time roles.

As part of the plans there would also be a reconfiguration of the car parking facilities, which would increase from its current provision of 80 spaces to 95 to cater for the extra demand.

The lodge itself would be developed on the eastern side of the site and will be of a similar red brick design as The Plas Coch.

The application will be considered for approval at a later date.
