A further housing development has been proposed for vacant land on Croesnewydd Road – with proposals put forward to build several apartments in the area.

In an application submitted to Wrexham Council this week, it has been proposed that a residential development consisting of 16 apartments is built on vacant land on Croesnewydd Road – just down the road from the 79 new homes we wrote about yesterday.

The area of land proposed for the development is an ‘open field, which has Croesnewydd Road to the north west, the river Gwenfro to the north east,a meandering drainage ditch running along the south side, and by a footpath along the west boundary.’

If the application is successful, the development will comprise of 10, two bedroom apartment and six, one bedroom apartments. A community room is also proposed for the ground floor to allow for a ‘sense of community’ and for the occupants to foster friendships

Details about the layout / appearance of the development are provided within the Design and Access Statement, which notes that the apartments will be ‘divided into two separate blocks, two beds and one beds with each having an apartment on the ground floor which can accommodate persons with mobility restrictions’.

A total of 22 car parking spaces, 26 cycling spaces and four disabled parking spaces are also proposed for the development.

The Design and Access Statement concludes: “The proposal successfully integrates into the existing character of the local area and also helps to provide a usable public open space for the local community. The planning of the landscape design carefully addresses how the public
will use the site while also providing areas of private amenity space to the residents of the proposal.

“The design and ethos for this development will enable integration into the existing street scene, whilst providing a sustainable building that will support a variety of occupants and future generations of occupants regardless of ability and age. The cohesive design and further detailed design will include a landscaping scheme and engineering works that maximises the site’s potential for development.”

The development on Croesnewydd Road is the second of its kind to have been submitted in recent months as the residential area expands further.

The application for the new apartments on Croesnewydd Road is expected to go before Wrexham’s Planning Committee at a later date.
