‘Mindless vandals’ have damaged ten bus shelters across the County Borough in recent months.

Earlier this week Wrexham.com reported that two bus shelters on Chester Road had once again fallen victim to vandalism, with similar issues taking places at the start of January.

The shelters, which are located near Nice Acre and near the Smithy Garage both had the glass panes smashed overnight on Sunday / early hours of Monday morning, leaving shards of glass across the pavement.

The glass has since been cleared up by the Council, however there is no indication as to when the glass will be replaced. As pointed out by a reader earlier this week, the glass had only just been replaced!

Cllr David A Bithell, Lead Member for Environment and Transport, said: “The shelters recently damaged by vandalism on the Chester Road do not belong to Wrexham County Borough Council and their repair will be the responsibility of their owners, but we have made them safe and cleared glass away when needed.

“These are among 10 shelters damaged in the last few months by mindless vandals who are damaging public amenities for no good reason.

“We urge members of the public to contact the police if they see anyone damaging bus stops and reporting any such incidents as soon as possible.”
