10 sentenced for drugs supply as part of ‘Operation Loot’ – Police say house had “queues like Tesco”
Ten local people have been given sentences totalling nearly 30 years, with a stark warning from police for others not to follow in their footsteps, and reassuring the public that information does get acted upon.
Operation Loot resulted in the successful prosecutions of ten people dealing drugs from an address on Clos Owen in Caia this year.
A ‘county lines’ phone was used to send text messages to notify people that drugs were for sale, prompting queues outside that police described as being like at a supermarket.
The operation was notable not just in the arrests, but the extra work by police and stakeholders afterwards that saw efforts to remove graffiti, discarded household items and generally tidy up public spaces in what was described as a ‘wraparound service’. That also offered support to victims, dependent service users, and the wider community via ongoing support.
The below video has details of the local operation, including images of the cash and drugs seized. Police have also supplied an image of the mobile phone used as the ‘county lines’ number, along with the top image of Rhys Williams being arrested after running from police. Mr Williams had complained of sore feet so was kindly given a helping hand to custody.
Sgt Claire McGrady, DI Mark Hughes and CI Mark Williams give further details in the below video…
The sentences handed down today to the local people pictured above totalled over 29 years:
Adam Roberts – 2 years 10 months
Alex Williams – 2 years 10 months
Corey Duckett – suspended sentence 2 years
Kieran Gracy – 3 years 2 months
Lucas Hopson – 2 years 10 months
Tyrone Edwards – 6 years 8 months
Ben Coffin – 2 years 10 months
Jessica Dunmer – 2 years 10 months
Levi Rowlands – 2 years 10 months
Rhys Williams – 2 years 10 months
