Christmas may still be over two months away, however work is already underway to bring the people of Wrexham a fantastic night of entertainment and celebrations for this year’s Christmas Light Switch On.
This year’s Christmas Light Switch On is being organised by the Rotary club of Wrexham Glyndwr, who along with the support THIS Project and Amanda and Claire from the Wrexham Council Events Team, will be putting on a spectacular night of festive celebrations.
On Thursday 17 November the town centre will be transformed into a winter wonderland, with a magical lantern parade led by Father Christmas taking place through the town centre.
As with the previous three years there will be a colourful and festive lantern parade through the town centre which will be led by Father Christmas
This year will also see the return of the big stage and live entertainment, which will be provided by a number of local school choirs, including:
- Ysgol Cefn Mawr
- Ysgol Victoria c p
- Ysgol Barkers lane
- Ysgol Rhostyllen
- Ysgol Wats Dyke – (Who will open this year’s show in their first live performance!)
Rhos Male Voice Choir, Miss Wrexham, Queen Elsa and the cast of Cinderella from The Stiwt’s Panto will also be in attendance throughout the night. Fairground rides and festive stalls will also be at Queen’s Square throughout the evening.
The Only Way is Essex Star, Ricky Rayment will be taking time out of playing Prince Charming’s ‘Cinderella’, to turn on the lights.
The evening will then culminate in a spectacular Fireworks display.
Fiona Bassett President of the Rotary club said: “It’s going to be a fabulous night for both young and old there will be something to entertain everyone. Rotary is an organisation which raises money for charity, one if those ways is to put events like this on and we hope everyone will come along and show their support.”
Sam Foulkes Events, organiser of the event added: “We are all working really hard behind the scenes to try and make this event as safe and enjoyable as we can. We want to events like this in Wrexham to show what a great town we are, so make Wrexham your destination this Christmas.
