The most wonderful time of the year is upon us once more and the Christmas celebrations in Wrexham are in full swing.
Once again Wrexham town centre will play host to a jam packed schedule events, including festive regulars such as the Christmas Lights Switch On, Santa’s Grotto and Victorian Christmas Market.
This year will also see the launch of a three day Christmas village, which will bring together nearly 40 stalls selling everything from custom gifts and festive food.
There are also a series of free parking opportunities in car parks owned by Wrexham Council to coincide with the events details below. This applies to council car parks only so don’t risk it in any privately operated ones in town!

Christmas Light Switch On: Thursday November 22nd
Kicking off Wrexham’s festive offering is the return of the popular Christmas Light Switch On which is on November 22nd.
Organised by the Wrexham Rotary Club with the support of the council’s events team, the evening will feature plenty of activities for all the family, live entertainment and of course the switching on of the town’s lights.
Parking in all the council’s town centre car park will be free after 4pm.
Santa’s Grotto Launch / Small Business Saturday : Saturday December 1st
Santa Claus is coming to town at the start of December and he will be taking up a residency until Christmas Eve in his new home in Tŷ Pawb.
It will cost £4.50 to meet the man himself and his helpers and you’ll also receive a “lovely gift”.
Opening times of the Grotto are:
Monday – Friday 2pm – 6pm
Saturday-Sunday and Christmas Eve 11am – 4pm
December 1st will also see Small Business Saturday take place in the town centre – a national event that encourages shoppers and visitors to shop local and support all the independent and small businesses.
To support the event and local businesses, Wrexham Council have confirmed there will be free parking in all its car parks after 10am.
Victorian Market and Start of Late Night Shopping: Thursday December 6th
Arguably the town’s biggest and most popular Christmas event, the Victorian Market will make its much anticipated return on Thursday December 6th.
As well as taking place in the grounds of St Giles Church, the event will also spill out in the surrounding streets up towards Queens Square for a second year.
With stalls selling everything from festive treats to gifts and food, the event will feature live entertainment and a traditional carousel.
The event also symbolises the start of free parking for late night shopping which will continue on December 13th and 20th when shops are encouraged to stay open late.
Parking will be free after 4pm in all council owned car parks.
*NEW* Christmas Village: Friday 14th – Sunday 16th December
A new addition to the town’s festive offering, this year shoppers and visitors will have the chance to visit a three-day Christmas village.
Nearly 40 stalls have been confirmed for the event, which will take place on Llwyn Isaf (Library Field) between December 14th, 15th and 16th.
Over the three days visitors will be able to indulge in festive favourites such as Christmas crafts, cakes, chutneys, Yorkshire Pudding wraps and even some mulled wine and cider!
