Christmas is fast approaching and as usual Wrexham has a jam packed schedule of festive treats for people of all ages to enjoy!
November 17 saw the start of the festive season in the town centre, with the Wrexham Glyndwr Rotary Club kicking off the celebrations with a spectacular evening of entertainment for the Christmas Light Switch on.
Over 7,000 people braved the cold weather to gather in the town centre to watch live performances from local school choirs, Rhos Male Voice Choir and of course the cast of the Stiwt’s Cinderella – who had the honour of turning on the lights.
The evening culminated in a breathtaking firework display as the lights in Queen’s Square were switched on.
Holiday’s Are Coming to Wrexham on Tuesday 29 November with a festive favourite making its grand return to the town centre for Christmas.
The Coca-Cola Truck will be on Queen’s Square between midday and 8pm throughout the day as part of its nationwide tour across the UK this Christmas.
This year Coca-Cola are promising an ‘added sprinkle of Christmas cheer’ to this year’s tour, with visitors having the chance to ‘wander through an enchanted winter wonderland before taking photos of the truck’.
As with all Coca-Cola Truck visits 150ml of Coca-Cola, Diet Coke or Coca-Cola Zero Sugar will be handed out to visitors throughout the day.
Once the sun has set, visitors will enjoy an incredible after-dark surprise as Coca-Cola screens a short Christmas animation onto the truck. There’s a festive twist as we’re told the animation is powered by the ‘audience’s Christmas goodwill and festive cheer’.
Saturday December 3 will also see the arrival of a very special guest, with Father Christmas himself arriving in his grotto in the People’s Market. For more information contact 01978 297051.
December 8 will also see the return of one of Wrexham’s biggest annual events, with the traditional Victorian Market offering a day of festivities cheer.
Taking place between midday and 8pm at St Giles Church and the High Street, Wrexham’s Victorian Market will bring together more than 75 stalls selling everything from gifts, traditional food, crafts and much more! There’s also some mulled wine on hand for those who fancy a Christmas tipple!
Take a trip to the market in the evening for a truly festive experience – with St Giles being transformed into a winter wonderland, illuminated by Christmas lights.
Entrance to the Victorian Market is free – so be sure to pop down to pick up some unique Christmas goodies!
Those visiting Wrexham throughout December will also receive a Christmas present from Wrexham Council – who have announced that it will be free to park in ALL Council owned car parks throughout the month.
Across the County Borough there are plenty of amazing events taking place in the run-up to Christmas, details of which can be found in Wrexham Council’s Christmas Guide 2016.
The booklets can be picked up for FREE from many shops across Wrexham. Copies are also available in the Guildhall.
