We are updating these pages shortly for 2020 …

Old information below…

The most wonderful time of the year is just around the corner and with Halloween and Bonfire Night behind us, it’s time to turn our attention to Wrexham’s Christmas events.

Once again Wrexham town centre will play host to a jam packed schedule events, including festive regulars such as the Christmas Lights Switch On, Santa’s Grotto and Victorian Christmas Market.

This year will also see the launch of a three day Christmas village, which will bring together nearly 40 stalls selling everything from custom gifts and festive food.

There are also a series of free parking opportunities in car parks owned by Wrexham Council to coincide with the events details below. This applies to council car parks only so don’t risk it in any privately operated ones in town!

If you’re hosting a Christmas event and would like it featured on our What’s on Guide, email the details and poster to [email protected] or fill in the online form here.

The town’s festivities will kick off on Thursday 14th November at Queens Square with the Wrexham Christmas Lights Switch On.

Organised by the Rotary Club of Wrexham Glyndwr in liaison with the council’s events team, the event attracts thousands of people to the town each year for an evening of live entertainment and the spectacle of the Christmas lights.

This year the big red button will be pressed by Love Island contestant Niall Aslam.

Along with live entertainment, festive stalls and fairground rides, the light switch on will culminate with a fireworks display.

Wrexham’s Christmas Lights Switch On celebrations will begin at 4pm until 7:30pm. Parking in all council owned car parks will be free after 3pm.

We’re told the tree will arrive a few days ahead of the lights switch on – so keep an eye out for its journey into town!

November 30th will see the opening of Santa’s Grotto! Father Christmas himself will be making his annual jaunt to Wrexham at the end of November and will be spending the run-up to big day based in his Grotto in Ty Pawb.

The grotto will be open Monday – Friday between 2pm and 6pm and 11am – 4pm onSaturdays and Sundays. He will complete his final shift of the year on Christmas Eve between 11am and 4pm before dashing off on his one-horse open sleigh back to the North Police.

No booking required and tickets are £5 per child and available from Tŷ Pawb reception.

On Thursday December 5th one of Wrexham’s most popular and iconic festive events will return!

From midday to 8pm the town centre till be transformed into a Victorian Christmas Market.

Starting from the grounds of St Giles Parish Church and through Church Street, High Street and Hope Street, the festive favourite will bring together dozens of stalls selling everything from festive foods, mulled ciders and wines, handmade gifts and custom made decorations.

Last year’s event was the biggest so far, attracting a whopping 32,823 visitors during the day.

A week later will see the return of the three day Christmas Village on Llwyn Isaf, which will return to the town for the second time after a successful inaugural event in 2018.

Taking place between Friday 13th and Sunday 15th December, the village will see festive stalls and entertainment take place in a teepee during the three day period. More information is expected to be announced in the next few weeks!
