Hundreds of prospective students are set to descend on Wrexham Glyndwr University for a bumper open day this Saturday – just weeks after a record-breaking event.
Lecturers and operational staff will be on hand between 10am and 2pm tomorrow to showcase the best of the university and inform prospective students on the courses and facilities available.
It has been a busy few months for Wrexham Glyndwr University, which has seen its employability figure increase to 93% – along with gaining a silver award in the prestigious TEF (Teaching Excellence Framework).
And just weeks ago it was revealed 85% of students at the University are satisfied with teaching on their course, according to the National Student Survey (NSS).
Overall satisfaction was 82%, based on the experiences of final year students in the 2016/17 academic year.
This was all followed by an open day in August, which welcomed more than 330 people to the campus – the best attended at the University in six years.
Professor Maria Hinfelaar, Vice-Chancellor, said: “Following the success of our August open day – which was the best in recent memory – I’m delighted we will be welcoming prospective students again this weekend.
“It’s a great time to be joining us here at Wrexham Glyndwr University, and we look forward to demonstrating that. The campus is to undergo a revamp – starting with a £200,000 catering overhaul, which is in process – and we’ve seen a rise in some key areas, notably in getting our graduates into jobs.”
Professor Hinfelaar added: “There will be lots of things for prospective students and their families to see and do, as well as talking to lecturers about our wide range of courses and degrees, and finding out more about the accommodation and support services we provide.
“Our admissions team will also be on hand with help and advice for anyone in need of support after receiving their A level grades – please don’t hesitate to get in touch or visit us – we look forward to seeing you there on the day.”
As well as campus tours and interactive learning sessions, the open day will feature talks on higher education and information about the University’s award-winning inclusion team.
While most of the action will be taking place on the main campus, you’ll also have the opportunity to visit the School of Creative Arts in Regent Street and Northop campus.
Among the courses on offer will be the Community Specialist Practice (District Nursing) programme, formed in partnership with Welsh Government to educate community staff nurses from across North Wales every year.
The event also includes a creative writing workshop with lecturer Deniz Baker, and there will be guided tours at 10.15am, 11.15am, 12.15pm and 1.15pm.
