About Glyndwr University

Glyndwr University is a Wrexham based university which was formerly known as the North East Wales Institute of Higher Education (NEWI).

It was given university status in 2008 having been a member of the University of Wales since 2003.

It is named after Owain Glyndwr, who was Prince of Wales during the 1300s.

Glyndwr has over 8,000 students including more than 500 foreign students with campuses on Wrexham’s Mold Road and in Northop.

Glyndwr is noted for its industry links with over 1,000 companies and the fact that 94.3% of their graduates are in meaningful employment.

The university also holds no debts, loans or mortgages and bought the Racecourse Ground which is home to both Wrexham FC and the Crusaders RL in 2011 for £1.8mill.
