How do people feel about the dogs that are being seen around town these days?
I am noticing less dogs of the cuddly variety and more dogs of the type that are used as fighting dogs or guard dogs. more than once, I have been minding my own business and had a large dangerous looking dog run towards me. I am personally worried about this. I would not want to deprive anybody of their pet but I also am not keen on the possibility of being attacked. I once had a dog that was as docile as a teddy bear, but one day it suddenly lunged at a passing pedestrian and bit into his arm. this was not even a breed that is considered 'dangerous'. ( I would not keep a dog any more) I have started an album of dogs I see while I am walking around town. not every dog, just ones that i don't feel safe around. I'm not asking for these people to be effected in any way, it's not my right to do so, I just want to keep a record so that people can consider how they feel about this. dogs of wrexham - a set on Flickr Last edited by tremault; 06-29-2012 at 06:20 PM. |

In most cases, not all, it's the owners that are a problem, not the dogs.
I travel all over the UK for my work and I see the same sort of people with the same sort of dogs. It's really unfortunate that Staffies, for instance, have got such a bad reputation recently. They've become synonymous with aggression and yet the true Staffie is an extremely docile and child-friendly dog. |

I really don't think I could disagree with tremault more, certain breeds of dog are not the problem it is the deed, any dog in the wrong hands can be dangerous.
What breed of dog did you have? Bull breeds/large breeds get all the press but 98% of dog bites recorded by A&E departments that are NOT caused by so called 'dangerous' breeds. From your photos all dogs are on leads and under control and do not appear to be showing any signs of aggression. I own 3 rottweilers and they are the most fantastic breed, my dogs have been to obedience classes and as a result are well socialised with other dogs, adults and children. In a couple of weeks I will be attending an event www.rottiefest.co.uk where there will be lots of Rottweilers and this is the 3rd year for me and in all that time we have had no issues with dogs fighting or stepping out of line at all. In my opinion it just goes to show that responsible owners make for fantastic well rounded dogs regardless of the breed. I've owned many dogs over my life small and large and I don't think you can ask for a more affectionate loyal dog than a rottweiler. I'm a VERY proud Rottweiler owner. Just once more in the hope people take it in DEED NOT BREED |

Yep. Chester was all I could find too. I drive all day for work and don't really want to be going all the way out there after I get home.
