zingerParticipantAre they not going to be recruited and trained locally? :-)
zingerParticipantNow this I do agree with, Lazyjack. Do you think that there might be plans for another lot of affordable homes on the agenda or another new supermarket? If you think about it, including the car park there is quite a lot of space there if the leisure centre were to be demolished. It is a prime piece of building land due to closeness to the bypass and already having houses there. If the developers move in there is no telling what will happen. Sure as eggs the land won’t stand empty for long.
zingerParticipantTouche`
zingerParticipant£138,613, £120,000, £250,000 figures quoted from the last few posts. My word, there is a bit of creative accounting going on.
zingerParticipantHave you noticed though Ben10, that if you smile and are pleasant to someone that they usually smile back? It is infectious. That is the feel good factor.
zingerParticipantYou would be surprised Ben10. I work with a voluntary group and the Mayor & Mayoress come with smiles on theirs faces and to children it is if a King & Queen have come. At least our Mayor is local and is genuinely interested in what we try to achieve. Why do you think that people invite them? They don’t just turn up out of the blue. A feel good factor is very important otherwise we would all be miserable. Misery breeds misery.
zingerParticipantI think that maybe you are plucking figures from the air. Having children & grandchildren I know of a great many events, no matter how small, that the Mayor attends if asked, & which is the focal point of the event. Some people work extremely hard unpaid and it is nice for them to be recognised for what they do.
Wearing their chains of office which are already in place, a past council purchased number plates which don’t have to be paid for again, the robes when needed are already bought. Would you prefer that they catch the bus? A feel good factor is beyond price. For Heavens sake we don’t have much of a feel good factor these days. No I am not, nor ever have been employed by the council.
zingerParticipantIf you get rid of the Mayor now in times of this round of cuts, what would you get rid of 20 years down the line when if happens again. No, I think that we should keep some of the pomp & ceremony to brighten our lives & also as money in the bank for the really hard times.
zingerParticipantAs far as I remember, a lot of the demise of the football club started with allowing no good, low lives get involved in the running of it. They didn’t pay the bills which meant that Wrexham lost points and then ran it into the ground after sucking every last bit of equity out of it. It is in an excellent position for away supporters with the railway & bus stations within easy walking distance, just off the bypass and there was ample parking until the low lives moved in. It will be a long hard road for Wrexham to climb back up but the Crusaders Rugby Club is an excellent partner as long as they can rub shoulders without falling out.
zingerParticipantThe Wrexham Racecourse ground has heritage on it’s side. Any other town would promote that fact to the hilt. It would be Wrexham, Home of the Oldest International Football Stadium in Europe/ World, on every signpost leading into the town.
