zingerParticipantI don’t know about banning smoking altogether. Imagine all these hyper, nasty tempered people driving around at the same time. Which would be the most dangerous to the poor children.
zingerParticipantIt would have been good for the town & should the timing have been right, for Debenhams to move into TJ’s with M & S moving into Woolworths using both floors. Although, I would rather have kept both Woolworths & TJ’s in town with M & S taking over the Littlewoods store to extend. The old Co-op building might have been OK for Debenhams. I can but dream. I know that none of it would have been feasible. The moon is also made of green cheese.
zingerParticipantDidn’t they have one on Lord Street where you could buy a quarter of vegetables, peas, carrots etc. or whatever amount you wanted? I feel sure that that was one of their first shops. About 45 years ago.
zingerParticipantBuses on Grosvenor Road Alunh? Imagine all those motorised scooters up & down Grosvenor Road. Where is the correct place for them by the way? Often you see them on the road which in my opinion is dangerous. The pavements on Grosvenor Road are well used by pedestrians.
zingerParticipantTo my mind it isn’t so much about increasing revenue as much as not wasting what we have.
zingerParticipantI wonder if that is where the money is coming from for new doors, windows, central heating, boilers, kitchens & bathrooms for some Caia Park residents, some of whom really don’t want to have a lot of mess again after recently having solar panels (twice) & new roofs fitted. If it ain’t broke why keep fixing it.
zingerParticipantPeople using Tesco’s free parking would use that entrance. High Street isn’t what you would call town centre. If I were walking in from town I would walk up Bank Street or Henblas Street, through Market Street car park and into Eagles Meadow that way. Not that I shop in Eagles Meadow.
zingerParticipantIt isn’t the easiest thing for mums to catch 3 buses to drop their children off at school before going on to start work at 9.00am. Have you noticed that it is mostly mums? Why don’t more dads do the school run? At 3.00pm the mums are also probably at the same time trying to fit in picking up something for tea, popping in to see Nan, take the dog for a walk, drop little Jimmy off at football practice, help with home work & making sure there is a clean PE kit ready for the next day. Most of the men I know aren’t too good at multitasking.
zingerParticipantJust like the governments (both parties) they really don’t think things through. One of last things to interfere with should be what keeps the town looking tidy First impressions are all important.
zingerParticipantQuote Wxm.com article – The Council told us they are: “…responsible for those areas of land and as such holds public liability insurance for any works undertaken on the land. In the event of a claim against the Council in respect of the actions of an individual or organisation on Council land, the Council or its insurers would seek indemnity from the individual or organisation”
Specific to the query on if people would get into any kind of trouble we were told “Works undertaken on Council land without express permission are unauthorised and are carried out at the risk of the individual or organisation.
“The Council will not be granting permission for such works to be undertaken.”
What happens if someone mows the grass and the mower throws up a stone & hits someone. In the old days this would have been an accident but in these days of ambulance chasers it would an opportunity for some to sue.
