zingerParticipantHow much will it cost us, Joe Public, to have the stationery changed, livery changed on all the vehicles, signposts replaced etc. Again!! The money has to come from somewhere whether in the form of grants or taxes or laughiingly Europe. I have lived in Denbighshire, Clwyd & Wrexham CB & I have not moved house. The same goes for City status. In the end the cost is down to us. My bank still had Clwyd on their letterheading the last time I looked.
zingerParticipantWhose age was the least of her woes..
zingerParticipantNadolig Llawen a Blwyddyn Newydd Dda to everyone. Hope that you have a good one.
zingerParticipantThe very best of luck in the New Year to the Volunteers & Staff of Splashmagic. I really hope that the communities are behind them. These people have come to the front to be counted.
zingerParticipantI am concerned about traffic using the Gresford Road. It is quite narrow with a lot of bends, the railway bridge & Griffin hill. It is murder passing the school in Gresford in a morning & afternoon. I know that there are other routes but with the houses to be built in Rhosrobin those roads will be busy too. Why is this area to the right of the Llay New Road so popular that there is a need for an extra 750 new houses in total between the two developments.
zingerParticipantShrewsbury is a market town. Have they ever applied for city status? We had it all. Industries, markets, heritage. Oswestry is proud to call itself a market town. The entrance to the town proudly states what it is.
zingerParticipantNow if everyone were to live near to where they worked instead of commuting — Quote //Llangollen Advertiser, Denbighshire, Merionethshir… — 30 November 1917 “A letter was read from the Llay Main Collieries, Limited, from which it appeared- that there are practically no houses in the neighbourhood of the new Llay Colliery, and provision will have to be made for roughly speaking, 3,000 workmen. It was resolved that a sub-committee visit suitable sites in the neighbourhood of the colliery, and to make a general survey of the possible needs of the district”.
zingerParticipantProbably because we have run out of other sustainable ideas. In 2050 it is possible that wind power will supply 20% of our energy, likewise wave power. What do we do in the meantime? We get our power from some unstable countries & perhaps we are in panic mode.
zingerParticipantGoing straight to the top, the CEO of iGas said & I quote from his email.
//CEO IGas – “I am indeed aware of the Gresford Colliery disaster and am saddened by the invoking of, and publication of stories that suggest we would desecrate the graves of miners. I find it offensive to the memory of those that lost their lives in the disaster.
Let me assure you that the proximity to the disaster site was fully considered by Dart Energy and the relevant authorities at the time of the planning application and it was concluded that there would be no effect on the disaster zone. The borehole is in fact over three quarters of a mile distant from the nearest mined seam and more than a mile from the actual disaster zone. We conduct all our operations and environmental assessments to the highest standard and in compliance with all regulatory requirements”. //
zingerParticipantSomehow, & I can’t remember how now, I managed a while ago to get a ‘as the crow flies’ mileage between the camp & Pant yr Ochain (disaster zone) & the old colliery (shafts) which was substantially more than a mile. The CEO of iGas said that the drill would be more than 1 mile away from any colliery workings which sounded about right to me.
