The photo of the rear of Temple Row shows another area that has a bin problem. Further up from Temple Row you have the the Davies Brothers iconic gates fronting our grade one listed Parish Church, with the ever present bins on either side. Not the prettiest approach for a wedding or funeral. Bin and recycling locations are very important and the planning department need to make the developers make proper provision with the curtilage of the development. Residential development with the town centre are set to become common place so the Council need to set a standard from the beginning to protect the vista of the town.

I don’t think the Council would even consider using the Guildhall Car Park as part of the parking solution but they should insist on some parking arrangements for the 50 flats before agreeing planning permission. Ty Pawb and Eagles Meadow might provide some spaces at a price. The rear access space has been earmarked for use by the retail space retained below the flats. It will have to provide bin space and until shops are let no doubt some will try to park there.

There are two tiers to the Guildhall Car Park , I am sure some form of strategically placed fencing would prevent Councillors coming into contact with residents.

Good point regarding the bins and recycling , the problem of NOT making proper provision at the planning stage can be viewed and smelt daily on Yorke Street! The Council together with local businesses are trying to improve the town centre but a poorly thought out residential development in Henblas Street will be a retrograde step. The same planning regulations should apply to all developments. Developers will comply if they have too.

Seems a pointless exercise to consider a £5000 cut here or £50,000 cut there when last year two departments overspent by a million pounds each. Perhaps the Council can explain where the £2,000,000 came from to cover those overspends. Are we being asked to make deeper cuts this year to cover last year’s errors? Did the money to cover the mistakes come from Capital Reserves? Will the Council guarantee the same will not happen in the next financial year.

Everywhere you look these days someone is bemoaning the use of plastic and how it is damaging wildlife and the planet in general. However most of the goods sold to celebrate Halloween are made mainly from plastic and are single use imported goods. Perhaps to support the planet we should carve locally grown pumpkins and make our own sweets.

At the moment if your rateable value is over £12000 , you pay full business rates and that affects many small businesses in the town centre. To give a 30% reduction in business rates payable to those with a rateable of £51000 would help many small businesses. It might even help let some of the medium sized empty shops in the town.

Doesn’t seem right that some Chester shops / restaurants will get up to an £8,000 per year rate reduction and no similar promised reduction here in Wrexham.

Someone on the Forums mentioned pension payments for Councillors, the end column of the allowances list shows those who pay towards a pension, assume figure shown is the Council contribution rather than Councillor. Someone will clairify if that is wrong .

The figures are for the last financial year, the lastest available on the Council site.
