Council Cuts, the proposals made interesting reading but I have to say it came across like something smiling George does when he presents his budgets (gives a little bit with one hand but takes a hell of a lot more with the other hand),smoke and mirrors comes to mind.
Yes we are in troubled times and as call me Dave has said “we are all in this together” which as we know is a total lie.
But getting back on track the document shows proposals for this/that and the other which means sticking it to the council tax payer as much as possible and councillor Hugh John Jones says and I quote “we are asking the public to give us ideas that we have missed”.
Well councillor what about the “privileged” (free parking) scheme that I assume is still in place for council staff surely now is the time that this should be removed for ever or is this such a sacred cow that it must never ever be brought to the table.
And with regards to increasing the council tax again this time by 5% you must be having a laugh.

Dutton ex chief exec (golden handshake/council pension plus salary for being a councillor) so why not claim for things like this also.
Paterson current chief exec on a very good salary must need the money.
And should they not also be putting in a claim for wear and tear on the shoe leather!
Come on people common sense should prevail, oh wait a minute this is Wrexham council where in most cases common sense goes out of the window.

I was informed that the management review was carried out as one of the strategic directors *REMOVED* had put in a request to ‘go’ but this could be one of the many rumours that now seem to be spreading within this council and I was also told that the staff morale is now well below zero with even those who thought they were ‘fireproof’ now looking over their shoulders.

If any changes to the senior management structure does go forward/accepted do we assume that a well funded redundancy package/golden handshake award is ready in place for these people as at the moment they are on a very good salary and as has happened in the past persons in this particular area ( identified as senior management) have been ‘looked after’,or is there now only one redundancy package etc in place for all employees irrespective of the job they do.
‘We are all in this together’ I remember somebody saying only some are more in it than others and in instances such as changes in senior management structures in banking/industry/local government etc they all tend to look after each other or has this culture now stopped, methinks not.

Who stays who goes who will be trembling in their booties for the well paid jobs they have, the knives will be coming out in abundance now.
R.I.P. Wrexham council as one of the four new councils created in 1996 following the plank (John Redwood the then welsh secretary) decision to remove the county council tier you began quite well then it became a circus of fools and a jobsworth’s paradise.
Your gravy train has ended and it is now back into the real world welcome back Clwyd.

Is this another example of taking the clack out of us by making sure we follow the right rules.
If we get it wrong will the wraith of this mighty council fall on us from on high per chance and what is the next thing in the pipeline oh I know, no pay rise this year for our elected councillors.

Cuts in operating budgets, reduction in services, staff reductions and this well organised (ha) council decides to increase the council tax once again.
Have to ask with all the above happening what justification is there in increasing again our council tax.
Do they look at us like ‘cash cows’ as I have not had a pay rise in the last 3 years and I think this year I could be lucky with 0.5% yet year on year Wrexham has continued to up the council tax.
Are they aware that if the froze the tax it would help a lot of people but this is Wrexham Council with the blinkered view of take, take and take again.
