welshrabbitParticipantCan’t help but wonder if there’s a bigger plan, what with a GAS fired Power Station, Fracking & drilling for methane, perish the thought!

welshrabbitParticipantMetalhead
Did you pose for the picture just to prove a point? (lol)
welshrabbitParticipantSounds like another company wanting to come into Wrexham and use and abuse it. They will probably want to knock down St Giles while they are at it.
You have to wonder were the proposed GAS fired power station fits in with all this drilling!
welshrabbitParticipantSo, the Daily Post brought us news from Wrexham Power Ltd last week that they are going to be consulting with the good folk of Wrexham (at last) in the ‘New Year’, with regard to what they see as being an excellent investment for us, however, the have also admitted that they are “a long way off submitting any plans to the council”. It’s my view that they might have woken up and smelt the coffee, it’s been clearly demonstrated to them that we don’t need and don’t want a Power Station of this sort here. From what I can gather, there are only five full time employees in Skelton Group Investments, the Company responsible for incorporating Wrexham Power Ltd. They’ve got their hands full, they’ve recently started two new (Power Station) projects at Meaford in Staffordshire & Killingholme in Lincs. There’s obviously good money to be made otherwise they wouldn’t be speculating in it.

welshrabbitParticipantI had a conversation today with someone who used to work for the National Grid, he intimated that a Power Station the size of the one proposed for Wrexham would have to have two routes in place for the 400kva transmission lines and Pylons they are carried on, this is a new ruling to combat any future lose that may be experienced with a single route. Something to do with continuity of supply.
I know the current route goes to Legacy, presumably an additional route might take it into Cheshire somewhere.
Does anyone know if this is true?
welshrabbitParticipantNo, couldn’t find anything relating to the storage & temperature control of hot water.
With regard to electricity, this power station will probably be run when the selling price of electricity justifies the ignition button being pressed and that’s at a time of high demand/usage, not to feed a storage system. Kelloggs, for instance run their plant 24/7 not when we’ve all arrived home from work and put the cooker & kettle on and shower the kids.
welshrabbitParticipantI’d be surprised if any businesses gained any benefit from a new Power Station being built on the Estate, how can they if they can’t get the energy they need, including hot water when they need it. Be it 50% or 20% businesses need supplies 100% of the time they’re operating!
