Most of the recent big planning applications in the Wrexham area have been met with an outcry. We definitely need more housing to meet present and future needs. The planning department certainly has its moments but on the whole its seems to understand this. Pointless turning down a valid application that will go to appeal and end with Wrexham tax payers paying huge costs. Not sure what makes you the expert in planning matters that maybe unpopular with the NIMBY lot but its certainly not ludicrous. Gower to be fair as a local building company actually use the local workforce and local suppliers keeping many people in work and creating other job opportunities, the big nationals bring there workforce and materials with them. Some affordable houses in Gresford would be a welcome change and am sure the local shop and businesses would benefit. All other amenities will expand to cope as they have elsewhere.
When bus services used by many to get to work daily or people especially the elderly on a regular basis stop running for whatever reason it is obvious that problems will arise. The need to be kept informed is paramount and is something this Council needs to work on urgently. Agreed we should I think praise the council transport department for their quick response to the demise of D Jones and Son just before Xmas but that’s their job and they are paid well for it. They do need to sort the financially unviable services out as they have a duty under the Transport act in Wales to secure the provision of public transport to meet any public transport requirements which would not otherwise be met.
Nothing is easy, but it seems to take an age to sort even the simplest of things this day and age with people easily vexed over the smallest of problems. We are in dire need of extra funds from the Welsh government to provide Sunday and later bus services all around the local area and our AM’s should be doing their job in securing these funds as they are paid more than well for that.I think we all realise that austerity and cuts to services is a country wide problem and that sometimes we must perhaps suffer a little for the greater good. The main concern with Ty Pawb is that it will be a drain on local finances for the foreseeable future. The old market had the stalls and a place for a bite to eat without the need to spend massive amounts of money. The Oriel could have managed without relocation with a fraction of the money thrown at this project.
All being said, we also as a family will do our bit to support and visit Ty Pawb, but I just hope it does what it says on the tin and supports Local Artists and Business.sportsboy wrote:

If there is justifiable need for cuts in services, then it needs to be fair, impartial for all and suffered by all. We pay a Tax for services provided and cutting very important aspects of this and keeping others will always be contentious.
It’s unjustified, unfair and morally wrong to expect others to pay for parking while keeping it free for yourself, whether it’s daytime shopping or 11.30pm in the Pub it makes no odds, I pay, you pay no arguments. If its true and as you say there are other free car parks used by Councillor’s just for their convenience lets have it all out in the open and find out what the true costs and what cost savings available are.The Blue Badge scheme has always been a fantastic way of prioritising parking places close to important services for disabled persons. It doesn’t always need to be free to park and often isn’t as Blue Badge and poor don’t always go hand in hand. We have all probably quite often come across Blue Badges on luxury cars. Outside the Grosvenor Hotel Chester this past Sunday afternoon we had a sporty Jaguar and a Porsche both with Blue Badges! It does however need to be fair and the extra time being proposed will help with constraints of a wheelchair and other disabilities. It is not by all means a perfect world but as we are still facing austerity and severe cuts to all services it may be however unpopular a way of raising funds to help.
These very unpopular measures proposed by our Executive Board members and Council Leaders can only be fully justified when they finally realise that they can’t just keep throwing our hard-earned money at multiple layers of bureaucracy, consultants and legal challenges to tell them the obvious. They must also deal finally with this free car parking perk they seem to enjoy, if it’s true you can’t honestly justify it? The rubbish sprouted about being unable to carry out your duties without a parking space is just that Rubbish, if you want a car park space pay for it or lose it to someone either with or without a Blue badge who will or has to pay for it.It is becoming more and more obvious that the one thing Wrexham needs is more ‘arts’. However I do think that looking at the philistines who comment on here all we are doing is casting pearls before swine. Get involved in the arts. Support Ty Pawb. After all, the clue’s in the name.
Typical answer is to blame the Philistines. Where is it becoming obvious we need more Arts ??. Since when has it been casting pearls before swine to to have an opinion about something that affects the population of an area that is having to suffer major cuts to basic services.
I consider myself and my family normal, we are active members of the National Trust, we visit the theater regularly, support Comic-con and various other activities in and around the area when possible.
Cuts to services including education have a major impact on the local population and need to be addressed before massive amounts of money is spent on these projects. These Education cuts have a direct impact on the ability of local children, students etc to learn the value of the Arts.
The name means nothing it was voted for by less than 1/4 of 1% of the local population so its not everyone’s!!!
“Ty Pawb” will be a money pit from the day it opens. No business would or should be run with the intention of making a loss from day one, but because it’s the so called Arts we throw money we cant afford to loose at it in abundance with no thought to the outcome. Wrexham has not the need or the desire for such a place, but We have the hierarchy who keep telling us that it will help with education etc while they cut real education spending to help balance the books. It’s actual position close to the virtually abandoned area of the former BHS, TJ Hughes, Post Office etc etc means footfall will be non existent and people are shunning Wrexham because of bad press that seems to surface on a daily basis.
Surely as Carl Sargeant was accused of a works misdemeanor he should have been suspended with pay and an HR investigation carried out to determine if the allegations were true.He was employed by the Welsh Government,he should have been informed of who made and what the allegations were. If the allegations were true and serious enough to warrant dismissal then a decision should be made. There was no police investigation as far as I can see from what has been reported so his sacking was illegal in as far as employment laws are concerned. This has all the markings of a witch hunt with PC gone crazy and has resulted in a man taking his own life

Supposedly in the middle of an obesity epidemic and we are worried about a lettuce shortage, world’s definitely gone mad!!!!!.
