My Mam and Dad both lived local all their lives and always said “nothing good ever comes of nationalism and devolution” and I believe they were right. It’s a real mess, Mark Drakeford sprouting his 4 nations together policies if and when its suits is pathetic. Our Devolved government trying to flex their so-called power and that silly woman up in Scotland beggars’ belief. The rules should be for a nation together during this unprecedented time taking advice from the scientists to suit.

The situation we are in is unprecedented, no Government in power would or could have been prepared for this pandemic. The Tories while making mistakes along the way are dammed if they do and dammed if they don’t. The issue is our Devolved Government, they are happy to give out contradicting advice while taking no accountability. This virus is not different for the Welsh and the Science is no different for the whole of the UK. Testing procedures and availability should be equal.

Thanks, Rob, for that input, but its ok the Minister speaking on Radio saying Wales has different methods. What methods? why make it complicated? It Seems that in the whole of the UK apart from Wales, basically anyone who has symptoms and wants to find out if they are infected to help them decide on isolating and work options can get one, They can book it themselves with reasonable ease whereas we in Wales have to pussyfoot around with telephone calls and contacting doctors or whatever the Ministers methods are.

Wales is miles behind the massive testing capacity increase spelt out by the UK Health Secretary
    Why?

Absolute Tosh, you obviously have your own home so let’s forget about the people who don’t and are looking to purchase. We do need new houses in Wrexham, we have or should have an LDP. Look around, apart from self-build nobody is building, most of the existing sites are virtually finished and all sold. Apart from the site on the Cheshire border that will be a haven for Chester and North West buyers who cannot afford house prices up that end there is not a lot about. Most local home builders have or are slowly disappearing due to the cost of land and the hassle involved in planning applications and inevitable appeals.
Who do you think you are??, who is the “WE”. Telling the Council who you obviously despise to illegally stop developers by hook or crook from building! Appeals are allowed for a reason; our Planning committee is far from perfect and they or you certainly do not speak for most Wrexham people.
Building control is there to make sure developers adhere to the rules, if they fail then there should be consequences implemented by the Council or Planning.
Wrexham needs new homes built for the local population and workforce to get on the housing market, address the shortage available and to provide work for the local trades and suppliers. What is does not need is idiots and the loony left barking out orders.

Wxmlad, you really need to wake up and smell the roses. I and you by the sounds of it are lucky we don’t need the help provided either because of hard work or luck or a bit of both. Some do and its not new money, its the same money used to provide free school meals judged necessary before the Covid problem. I’m not a fan of our Council but some praise for a safer way of providing a contact-less option.

Not being able to feed a child properly is a problem for some due to circumstances beyond their control, food banks are struggling and some closed. Child abuse is a massive concern, don’t trivialise it in this post PLEASE.

The money is to help as they would normally have the main meal in School, at the moment they collect meals from collection points which is not ideal. No doubt some will abuse the system which always happens but if it gives the help to genuine people then its a small price to pay.

Its not child abuse!!!! its some really needing the help. We work to better our lifestyle and to provide for our family s or as least I do. We put money into general taxation, how its spent is down to government. If at least one child ends up not being hungry then I’m happy.

We as a young family of four in the early 70’s were poor and as a single parent my mother relied on free school meals which unlike today were a stigma of separate ques and name calling but it meant we had a good meal and Ill always be grateful for that.

Poppycock, the huge Articulated lorries manage fine and have done for years, the extra cars would end at start of the site which is nowhere near the length the lorries travel up the lane. With capacity comes growth and infrastructure, ask all the local shops how busy they are with all the new residents. Gresford High St has never been so active. NIMBY’S disagree with any development full stop. They already have their cosy homes, tough luck to anyone else who wants to join the property ladder or improve their lifestyle
The Council have a legal obligation to allow X amount of space to be developed to provide X amount of dwellings, land such as this piece which has homes/houses either side and in front of it is perfect for building, it allows the overall size of a village to increase without extending its borders and also preserved local identity. House Builders are always looking for land but all the easy to build on land has gone making it a difficult and costly process.

Having attended and also watched numerous streamed planning meetings I can without doubt say that the the planning officer residing is one of the few to use any common sense. The Planning committee members apart from perhaps a couple use personal emotion to justify their decisions when in reality it’s rules and regulations they should be following. Mr planning officer is there to explain the rules, the same planning officer who recommended that the opening hours of the local chicken farm be extended and they disagreed, fast forward to recent appeal, granted and costs awarded against council. Our money they are wasting but hey- ho. I attended one meeting where Mr planning officer specifically warned against rejecting an application as it would go straight to appeal and be granted with costs awarded against council and they still unanimously rejected it. You could actually see the shake of his head in disbelief.
As for Gower Homes the builders they seem at least to use local tradesmen and suppliers unlike the national builders who bring workers with them around the country, but as usual the NIMBY;S only care for themselves. Vicarage Lane seems to manage fine with huge articulated lorries travelling its length but not a few extra cars.
