Alexa.com now showing a drop of 231,178 places. Wrexham.com Site Info

so those alexa users who used to look at wrexham.com are viewing the site even less than last week.

I note that wrexham.com have not published any indpenedent figures of their traffic. Yet Google analytics is working perfectly tonight. (wrexham.com’s google analytics account number is:UA-2069397-13)

It may be that the councillor in question does not look at the forum. If he doesn’t you would have thought that one of his colleagues would have replied on his behalf if he were ill & they thought that he were being done an injustice. What would you have Rob do?

His colleagues have already sent tweets to wrexham.com. Wrexham.com chose not to publish them or follow them up. Those tweets should have been added to the original article

What should this media outlet do?
Easy, call him and give him right of reply like any media outlet would. And add that right of reply to the article as well as offer an apology if the councillor was indeed ill.
    His numbers are:
    Councillor Gregory
    Tel: 01978 263552
    Mobile: 07776 312744

However, in my opinion, I think rob has a vendetta against this councillor, that is why he hasn’t given right of reply and won’t do it..

If this is really such a huge issue why has this councillor (whoever he/she is) not posted anything on here to defend themselves? (or have they?).

The issue is trust of this media source.

the issue is that wrexham.com hasn’t given right of reply when its quite possible that the story is misleading the public. how can you trust a media outlet if they won’t fully follow up the story?

It’s it the responsibility of the media outlet to offer right of the reply. Rob does not want to do this, why?

C’mon when do i ever defend a politician? This is an issue of trust over this media outlet, how many other stories are they not giving the full picture?

If the politician did not have an adequate excuse, I would gladly condemn him and call for his resignation.
If the politician did have an adequate reason, you have to ask why did rob not give right of reply, except for having an agenda against the said politician.

To be fair, I can’t see Rob bullying or slurring anyone. You may not like the way he reported something but no one else seemed to think that it was a major issue if I remember rightly.

    Background:

    • Rob chose to run a story from a press release from the council leader that accused a councillor of lack of attendance
    • the councillor was asking for more detailed figures in regards to council expenditure
    • the councillor was suggestiong to axe the mayor and spend that cash on services.
    • A leader reporter posted on here and twitter suggesting the councillor had a valid reason for not being at those meetings.
    • A leader reporter also posted that it common practice to give right of reply. (Even the daily mail did that with Milliband)
    • Other twitter posters alluded to him having health problems,

The underlying issue is that a debate on cuts and more figures made public was deflected by the council leader by slurring the councillor. This would be fine if the councillor was fit and healthy. But rob never got right of reply.

    1. If rob had got right of reply from that councillor he would be able to verify if the councillor was ill, had health problems and why he wasn’t at the council meetings.
    2. Although there were a number of tweets to him explaining the situation, he did not, why? My only viewpoint is that he wanted to attack that councillor too.
    3. If the councillor was ill, we should be asking questions of the council leader’s scruples and is a man like that balanced enough to run the council.
    4. this issue i think is a huge one especially because the big debate is about cuts, but debate has been stifled by this press release.

but we don’t know how many of those visits are spammers.

For instance there are over 9,000 members on this forum but probably no more than 2% have ever posted something other than spam.

The easiest way to see how many visitors are spammers, search engine robots or content scrapers is see what % of visitors are from UK & EU v rest of world.

It’s quite easy to find, all wrexham.com has to do is print a google analytics snapshot of wrexham.com

Still doesn’t explain why wrexham.com has a need to bully and slur a councillor (who if some twitter commnetators have alluded to) has had health problems. Which is a great reason why to not post on this site as often as before.

Other bits have been answered before so wont go round in circles…

they haven’t been answered just a refusal to admit a drop of journalistic standards. I wouldlike to contribute to some of the other threads, but after you saying in this thread that the forum only accounts for 2% of the visits, i don’t see why anyone would when main articles show such deliberate bias and bullying against one politician/councillor.

Alexa show one very good point those wrexham.com readers that have the alexa toolbar on their browser aren’t viewing the site as much as they did in August.

If this wrong, why not put up a “PNG” of the google analytics snapshot that compares monthly visits of the last two months whilst giving a breakdown of which countries your visits come from?

Haven’t posted since Wrexham.com not giving right of reply to a councillor and then trying to slur the same councillor in another forum thread by again not giving him right of reply.

I find that to be the lowest act by a wrexham media outlet for 4 years, so i doubt i will post very often until the journalism standards return to what they once were.

    re: stats of website

Rob has said previously he has google analytics, they are working today.

but remember with google traffic stats you need to take out visits from the spammers and robots… that’s very easy to do and could be very easily published on here at any time. takes me just a minute to create a png to do that. I have settings on google analytics that emails me the results of the week every monday morning.

incidently alexa.com is stating that wrexham.com has dropped over 147,000 places in the league of the most popular websites in the world over the last few weeks.

    toodle pips!

    correction it’s now a drop of 184,000 see http://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/wrexham.com

‘Just a blog’ is fine if that fits for you – there are some excellent blogs out there so fingers crossed can get close to emulating them.

Likewise there is not going to be 50 odd phone calls being made to enable me to post council published material being cut n pasted and sorted in excel… nor a subset before I get accused of bias :)

….although if thats grounds for bias you are going to love a forthcoming feature!

the bias is because the wholepoint of this thread was to justify ignoring the right of reply forcouncillor gregory in your “council leader fires back article”

That was bias because there was no right of reply, Why have you only show one side of the argument?

And the fact you won’t give it to him shows bias.

    This site has lost credibility.
