Who cares? But the man does make a valid point. What happened to that budget? That was the one I was looking forward to viewing!
The Council have put in £1.5 million into this project. Plus the Council have given car park revenue to Ty Pawb. Plus the Council have given the rent revenue from the surrounding shops to Ty Pawb. Plus the Council will have to subsidise this project for up to 10 years. This is all revenue that could have been used for front line services. You may not have seen anything that indicates Ty Pawb has taken money away from frontline services, but they are using the revenue generated from car parking/shops previously used for frontline services for Ty Pawb.
I’m confused on the Rent revenues aren’t they privately owned buildings? Business rate go to the Welsh Government? I also thought parking revenues went back into transport department coffers. You could be right but as I’ve said I’ve seen nothing on the contrary and highly doubt these revenues contributed to frontline services. Must be remindful that a lot of scaremongering appears around budgets as people like to use it as a political weapon.

No one could ever accuse Gresford’s Andrew Atkinson of being camera shy, I will bet all comers he will be snapped at the reopening of McDonald, Pappa John’s, and the proposed new coffee shop within the same building. For those unfamiliar with this self publicising individual, fear not, local publications will be clattered in his photo over the coming months, Ty Pawb opening, Techniquest launch, King Street bus station refurb, local scout groups that raise anything over a quid, all the low hanging fruit, all you could ever NOT want in a local politician.

Yes because you never see our MP or AM snatching any photo opportunity they get?

He’s obviously got under the skin of Labour in Wrexham. Reading these infantile posts i’ve come up with a brilliant idea, lets have a men only council with a minimum age of 75, you know like it used to be under Labour. Whatever you do, do NOT have young people from various trades on the council as this could upset the old boys club that used to exist.
He certainly has, maybe it’s because he taken the certainty of Wrexham being a safe seat? Council still of age though most I see must have reached retirement age! Younger people need good representation and hopefully he will prove he’s the right man for the job

Don’t be scared of culture people! You may enjoy it

No problem with culture, if it does not effect front line services. Everything has a purpose it’s just the cost.
Valid point but we are becoming a stagnant town, forgotten by Cardiff, lack of interest with our MP and AM. Something had to give we have a real lack of new initiative culture, sure we’ve got heritage but to go forward we need a base to entice the arts here. It’s valuable for our future generations, hopefully in time it will prove a real asset to the town and in turn boost our economy. I haven’t seen anything that indicates Ty Pawb has taken money away from frontline services.

But if they stopped using it or claimed the money back, as I’d imagine it would be an expense. Where the income being generated? It’s obvious the council needs money but this would be pittance. I’m sure we all know where they could save money there’s been plenty of threads on here.

I agree with jimbow, if there is a council meeting planned then cordon off some spaces at least then they can guarantee a place close to the Guildhall. Cost of parking could be claimed back as an expense if required upon receipt of tickets, times could then be checked against the meetings.

I can see your point but you cannot cordon off for Top Management because you do not know who will be in and Councillors need to come in to drop off documents and see people.

You cannot expect them to claim money back because of the tax involved so that would be unfair. They already save the Council a lot of money by using iPads instead of photostats so if they get a parking perk once every blue or blood red moon then so be it.

We are talking about people WE voted for so WE should look after them,

We are looking after them, we pay them between £13k and £47k per annum to carry out their duties. We pay for parking WHY shouldn’t they. As for I pads,I would expect them to use them as they are provided FREE of charge.
All were asking them to do is PAY.
Break that £13k down over the year and you’d find most people wouldn’t do a job for that much, I certainly wouldn’t. Then expect them to pay for an IPad that is forced on them and has saved the Council money not to mention the environment, now you want them to pay for parking? Why not charge them for their time that we use when we need them? The council isn’t the greatest but it won’t get better with constant barrages of wanting more for less!

Well I’m sure if our councillors use country parks they will pay too, slightly different than a place of work. Unless there’s a secret country park for just councillors and senior officers?

Oh sorry, my mistake, I didn’t realise we should be expected to walk in the rain in pursuit of our own free time activities, but not when it comes to making a personal effort to get to work. I wonder how many people were unable to get to work today because it would have involved walking in the rain. Or maybe it’s only unreasonable to expect councillors to walk in the rain. If only there was some kind of invention that could help, like, say, an umbrella.
Rain is irrelevant. Talking about parking in country parks and parking in council car park for work reasons, two completely different things. To simplify… country park charges everyone pays. As for councillors parking who cares if they don’t to pay? I for one don’t if it means our councillors can get to meetings and do the job they were elected to do. Say you had a problem with the council and had a meeting at the Guild hall and wanted your councillor there, you’d expect them to pay for parking to help you out? You’d be the first to complain if they refused because of having to pay for the pleasure of doing so.

I’m not a big fan of people gaining from public money but with parking I can’t see it as a gain, they’re only parking for meetings etc.
