There is probably a bright officer in the Council who would relish the opportunity to do this piece of work. Consultants were particularly introduced 20 to 30 years ago to introduce new ideas and share practice from elsewhere. Today between everyone being so well travelled and social media, things are quite different.
The successful emerging localised economies are the ones that champion the assets, culture and values that have been built up in an area during previous generations (unless a Milton Keynes is created with the necessary investment).
History shows that many or most places are a vision put together by one person. We probably have in our midst a person who could work throughout the community to produce a master plan for Wrexham (town and throughout the county), for everyone to consider. Zoning the geography, building on values built up over generations, working towards new and emerging markets, is not difficult.
Ok … folks let’s get involved. There is enough retired expertise out there who would willingly offer their skills and negate the need for outside ‘consultants’, if offered the opportunity. What do you say?
The MonitorParticipantMaybe another Council. Maybe another Wales Government (Wales Government?? Joke).. We the public are being sold down the river on oh so many occasions and ways. Councillors who appear not to have a clue about anything other than their own publicity and pay. Welsh ‘Government’ officials and ‘AMs’ that are precisely the same. It may be time for the folk, the people on the ground to step out and visit… physically make their presence known, not just speak and remain in the background. Think about it!

Whether you pay a fare or have a pass (especially if you have a pass), you should just shut up!
Fine, complain if you think the driver is driving dangerously or doesn’t stop to pick you up. NOT if the bus is cold or smelly or has litter everywhere.
Remember this, you are effectively travelling on the roads for free, while others including car and lorry drivers etc pay for fuel, road tax and insurance. You… asteve76 are an arrogant and unappreciative fool. If the ’76’ does not refer to your age … then screw you. Have you ever considered that every citizen who is of an age to have a bus pass, has already paid into the system sufficient to warrant free transport, and not only that. They have paid into the system sufficient to pay for your NHS treatments, schooling and possibly life saving treatments. YOU are what used to be called a total plonker. Now get your silly head out of your arse and start using intelligence and HUMANITY.

The vast majority of the closures already happened in Dec 2013. Unless the staff are going to sit on their hands for another two years they will mostly either have already redeployed to other prisons not closing or found new jobs. Some might come to Wrexham, sure; but not all of em.
Still more closures to come!
The MonitorParticipantWhat bus company? In both cases please.

The MonitorParticipant“Brought to the Board for adoption around October 2015” …. Are we to assume that means or rejection???? The mess and waste of money already demonstrated, should be a caution and advise a pause not a rushing headlong into another mess created by ‘the knowlegeable advisors’ Hmph…. I also wonder who will be carrying out the condition assessment of the existing Waterworld building.

This prison is designed to hold over 2000 inmates. For comparison, Shrewsbury held 305.
It’s going to take a lot more than people already in the prison industry to fill jobs at Wrexham.
Prisons across the country are due for planned closure. Staff will follow the transferred inmates. Staff ie prison officers rarely live on the doorstep of the prison in which they work, for obvious reasons. Figure it out!
The MonitorParticipantI would also suggest they get rid of the Executive Board. We elect Councillors directly responsible to us the electorate. We the public do not elect the Executive Board. The Executive Board is a non democratic group.
The MonitorParticipantGet rid of the Executive Committee … Not needed. Let all subjects be discussed in open Council. The we can all see how all the council members perform (or not). Watch should be kept up for any attempts by the Chair.. Lead Member etc etc. to stifle debate or input of information and opinion.
How about that? Democracy visible and naked in Wrexham. May even start a trend :)
The MonitorParticipantPhilWynn, I don’t know you and I don’t recall ever meeting or speaking with you; but …… I totally agree with you and applaud you LOUDLY (anyone with intelligence listening???). Keep up the fight for democracy. Keep up the fight for the voices of the electorate and the people of Wrexham to be heard.
Good Man.
