In Sept 2017 the Welsh Assembly released £2.1 million of taxpayers money to improve provision for the Homeless in Wales.

WCBC applied for money from this fund to purchase and equip Pods for the homeless to sleep in. So WHERE ARE THEY???
    No sign of anything happening!!!

Wrexham awarded share of Welsh Government funding to tackle homelessness and increase emergency night shelter capacity

Nen – the Welsh Assembly Government stipulate that every area of Wales has to have Traveller Sites. It’s a legal requirement, not optional. They have to be near to schools and near to local amenities. It’s all on the WAG website.

The Pont y Capel Lane site (Llay side, part of Alyn Waters, according to the opposition campaign) was proposed as one of these required sites, as was Brymbo, but there’s been a lot of opposition.

If we refuse to agree on sites for the required numbers of people the WAG will TELL us where the sites will be, we’ll have no choice.

Wrexham, apparently has been breaking the law for years by not providing the required Traveller Sites. So, we have to sort this out somehow. I don’t envy the task local Councillors have.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out, and how it’s resolved. I believe Travellers were recently moved on from the Gredington too.

Will you be requesting an internal review, as advised “if you are unhappy with the way the Council has handled your request?”

Ratepayers deserve an explanation – let’s have The Truth, please WCBC!

And you haven’t mentioned the proposed Gypsy and Traveller site in the LDP yet! Poor hitoric, beautiful and wildlife-rich Pont y Capel Lane, Llay. And we will miss you, H.A.C.K if you are forced to move to make way for the site.

Everything to loose, nothing to gain.

Protest! Fill in the LDP consultation with help from Contact staff in town. Sign the petition. Go to the public meetings.

As for loos on the Llay side of Alyn waters ….. cost and vandalism will be the Council’s answer, just as it always has been.

Hindsight is wonderful, but I truly wish it had been possible to add the money from the Arts Council (£4 million, I think?) and the top up from our own council (@£1 million?) to the Wrexham education budget, ring-fencing it specifically for music, art & craft lessons. Our youngsters have suffered more than anybody else from austerity cuts to education and community resources.

I made a trip into town especially to see Ty Pawb this afternoon, was looking forward to it.
I enjoyed the photographs of Wrexham and the large artworks from “Is this Planet Earth?” Lots of children appeared to be busy with activities, lovely to see.

Otherwise, I came away feeling depressed. It looks unfinished, cheap, functional but unwelcoming. There is, sadly no atmosphere. The seating is ok for able-bodied people but anyone else would find it hard to be comfortable.

The new Police suite at the library looks much more inviting. Very smart!

Worth logging onto this thread to read feedshallow’s comment! Thank you.

So, Idris … tell us more about your kickass, fearless campaigns to solve Wrexham’s problems with the hospital, homelessness, drug use + plastic straws?

The Bin Men must surely be some of the best drivers in the country – quite an art to reversing a big bin lorry down narrow streets lined with cars. Even in the snow and ice, too.
Wrexhams’ Recycling service is excellent. We should follow their lead and recycle as much as we can – it’s high time we all did our bit to put rubbish where it should be – not in the Oceans for David Attenborough to find.
