The scheme was unveiled two years ago as part of plans to redevelop the stadium and boost Wrexham FC’s finances.

Unless Wrexham Council & CADW really put their foot down, I am resigned to the prospect that Mr Dickens will eventually get his way with the historic Miners Rescue Centre. Just for money. It is a part of the towns heritage.
There are people in Wrexham alive now, who never knew their father, because of that fateful day in 1934.
Is there anything else left in Wrexham that can be sold off?

Is it me or does this JJ developments sound like a paid off front for dickens?

IF my memory serves me correctly, JJ was Mrs Dickens’ company.

It’s not really hard to work out is it. He has been so fortunate with business in Wrexham. His garage space on Mold Rd was estimated roughly at £1.2m. He made near enough £1m extra on top of that when selling it to Geoff Moss (Wrexham Village). Mr Moss, prior to buying the plot of land, in a BBC Wales interview along with Ruthin-based builder Ian Roberts, said there was no money available for Wrexham Football Club. Yet a few months later he buys the Dickens-owned garage space.
Ian Roberts stood up at a fans meeting and said that every penny of profit from Wrexham Village would be ploughed back into Wrexham F.C. “For the avoidance of any doubt I mean 100%”. Some people have touted a long-term profit yield of between £30m – £40m. Wrexham Village has instead been tied up in trusts for the respective business interests & their family’s.

Wrexham Council should have insisted that the proposed new Kop Stand be built before granting these individuals planning permission.

Iwould dearly love to see Wrexham Council deny any further planning permission on the old Dickens garage site, unless even a donation be made for the provision of a new Kop Stand as previously promised by the afore mentioned businessmen.

You can almost guarantee that the Council will stuff something up with the Prison.
How official did the Council group look in the recent visit to the site (as photographed by the media)? Hard hats and high-visibility jackets over their shirts & ties…in an empty field. I bet their all on tidy salary’s. Before they do the Prison, can they get some basics right on our roads? Like turning the lights on around the B&Q roundabout at night time? Or making the speed bumps visible on the Greyhound pub to Borras Road? Totally invisible at night time, invisible at day time under the shade of a large tree…

Someone like Arnold Griffiths who made it his mission to attend 1 function everyday of his 365-day tenure as Mayor!

I can remember the controversy about the number plates, it was quite a few years ago. I seem to remember, even then, the 2 sets of plates cost around £100,000.

A Council paying £100,000 for 2 sets of number plates. We’d better keep them. They’d probably sell them for a fraction of the price. A bit like Eagles Meadow costing over £100m….and then selling the development for something like £78m. Yet, they can’t help out and secure the future of the Venture Queens Park on one of Europe’s most deprived estates.

    Yippee!

Received my appointment today! February 3rd.

That’s not bad seeing 2 URGENT referrals were sent by my G.P from September 17th!
Only nearly 6-months. In that time, my eyesight has deteriorated considerably. I’m using a torch to see the dials on my cooker, I can’t read my mobile phone and I find car headlights at night-time to painful to drive in the dark.
Perhaps the Maelor will pay for some laser correction at one of the top clinics on Harley Street? I doubt it

My Mum is an invalid. In 18mths she has gone from an independent woman who drove to Sainsbury’s by herself, to someone who has trouble walking 6 steps. She has to be taken to the bathroom.
She has actually messed herself waiting for someone to take her to the bathroom they are so busy. On one occasion this year on Cunliffe Ward she was in a lot of pain at 9pm and asked for pain relief. She had to wait till 10am the next morning before a doctor wrote her up for painkillers.

    They can’t cope.

thunderbirdskid you are so lucky to receive an appointment!!

Over two years ago my optician wrote a letter to my then G.P saying I needed an urgent referral to the Eye Department because I have optic neuritis. Unfortunately my G.P ignored the letter. Nearly 4-months ago I went for a routine eye test and the optician was both amazed and very concerned about this and wrote again to my new G.P. My G.P has since sent 2 referrals marked ‘urgent’ to the Eye Department and the consultants have marked me down as “routine”. The hospital cannot even give me a date. They say that the next notification I shall receive will be one informing me of an appointment 2 months in advance.
It looks ever increasingly that I have M.S. My eye-sight has deteriorated dramatically and I need a new prescription, but I can’t get this until I see a consultant…..
I have already lost 2 years and 3 months of treatment for M.S, and my eyesight has been damaged for good. I have had to put extra spotlights up in my kitchen because I can’t see the dials on my cooking stove.

I have no qualms about the medical treatment at the hospital, just concerns that the staff just can’t cope.
It is a regular occurrence when the night-shift comes on duty that the patients often don’t get their 9pm drink from the trolley till gone 10pm. The same applies for the medication which can often be dispensed as late as nearer 11pm. This can be due to the staff being occupied by just one incident elsewhere on the ward. There does not seem to be enough staff on the wards. From personal experience on the surgical wards there are usually only 3 people on duty at night time. 2 staff nurses and 1 auxiliary nurse. I presume the same applies to wards with mainly elderly patients. At times there can be only 2 members of staff on duty when one goes for his/her break.
BenjaminM, regarding the bottled water….. Many relatives bring bottles of frozen water with them at visiting times, or a cold drink from the shop or vending machines. They used to have ice machines in every ward kitchen. The plastic jugs were half-filled with ice by the staff and filled up with water and given to the patients. The atmosphere is so dry in the hospital, it doesn’t take long for a jug of water to warm up I can assure you from personal experience. I myself as a patient regularly used to run the tap in the bathroom and drink water from there.
I have asked staff on the wards about telephones. The ‘ward phone’ is usually broken or cannot receive a signal. Why don’t they have those portable pay phones they used to have? Especially on wards like Cunliffe which are many populated by the elderly?
As for the parking, say no more!
