Any idea who owns it now? I believe that Dickens has off loaded it.

I can’t recall anything in the media about Dickens selling it. But I definitley remember prior to the fine that it was stated that the planning was put in by a company registered to Mrs Dickens.

How many Bulgarians and Romanians will come to the UK whern they gain free movement rights in 2014?

And it’s alright people pointing out how many Brits live in Spain etc. It’s a much bigger country than than the UK. We’re full up.
I moved recently, there were two 2 bedroomed houses with 7 migrant ‘people’ living in in our street. Easy paying the rent then isn’t it between them all? How do first time buyers from the UK find a place to live etc?
One house had two couples, their baby, and one set of grandparents. Three cars parked on the street, no rules broken but what about the other residents’ chances of parking their car outside their home? Why do the grandparents have to come over? Their not migrant workers? But a drain on the NHS & local services ?

I can’t blame these people for wanting to better their lives. But…

I blame both Sharps & the agency recruitment firms. Gap, 24/7 etc
When Sharps first came to Llay it employed a willing and hard-working local workforce. They even stated in the local press that local people would get preference in a truly deprived area.
It was mundane, long hours, factory work. But it paid the bills. There was no agency recruitment then?
Then the EU borders opened and then Sharps constructively forced out the local workforce in favour of agency workers. Reduced hours, messing peoples’ shifts around etc. A form of ‘constructive dismissal’…
Surprise surprise, they then recruited a workforce from Gap/24/7.
In a truly deprived area, I’ve been in homes on Sixth Avenue, Victory Place, Nany Y Gaer Rd etc where there is poverty. Yet up the road there is a factory which predominantly employs migrant workers?

If I rang up Sharps enquiring for a job, how do I go about getting one? Or do I get in touch with an agency and pretend that I’m a migrant worker?

    and…

Saturday afternoon after the first snow had arrived, the outer lane on the A483 had not been cleared of snow, leaving just one lane open. Just the same with one lane around the Plas Coch/Sainsburys roundabouts. I can appreciate the Council can’t clear roads on estates etc but the bypass and a retail park off the main route into the town?

This was 5pm by the way on a Saturday. Biggest shopping day of the week.

    Quite right Wayne.

What annoys me is that Wrexham Council presses for the town to become a city, yet can’t get the basics right.

Communication i.e roads around the town are a nightmare. One smash at tea time and the whole town is snarled up. On a good day at this time, or any other time, come off the A483 and head for the town centre and it’s a nightmare getting into town, negotiating the one-way system etc
B&Q roundabout. It’s in darkness without street lighting on at night time. What an advert for the town? Look for yourselves the next time you drive round it at night. You can’t even see the road markings!
Chester Sainsburys. No problems driving in and out. Sadly not the case for Wrexham, despite a new lane being introduced… The traffic lights on the B&Q roundabout don’t let enough traffic pass through for a start…

    Judge for yourselves.

Wrexham ‘town centre’ will even more become a sight for sore eyes.
It’s the O.A.Ps who arrive at the King St Bus Station who can’t muster the energy to go to Eagles Meadow I feel sorry for. Even the ‘Bridge over the River Kwai’ leading to EM is a challenge for for the able-bodied on a windy day.

Crews from Wrexham were called to the following car fires last night – all thought to be started deliberately:

21:35 The Mount, Caia Park, Wrexham

23:22 Stanley Street, Caia Park, Wrexham

23:27 Green Bank Street, Caia Park, Wrexham

Sadly this seems to confirm that there’s a group of serial-arsonists in Queens Park.

I have seen most of the usual cloud formations before, even the more rarer lenticular clouds, but never ever recall seeing even a picture resembling these ‘polo mint’ type clouds. Clear night, apart from these clouds. Great to see. Pictures don’t do them justice.
