Ah, but it does mean they can no longer blame the English for local and national failure any more so it’s not a total waste.
Everything is the fault of ‘That Lot’ in Cardiff these days.

If Wrexham declares itself a ‘frack Free Zone’, will they continue to receive funds raised through taxes raised on fracking in other areas?

How do you know he’s an idiot?
What were the circumstances that led to his truck overturning?
It’s quite possible he was avoiding some over-emotional, vitriolic, old coffin dodger.

I agree with a lot of your post auld BennyBoy but a fish rots from the head down.
You have an executive team running what is essentially, a large company with no commercial experience or awareness.

It is most definitely a question of competence, I think Derek’s last two posts nailed it.
If the senior management team at Wrexham CBC were in charge of a similar, fiscally sized PLC, they would have been gone Donkey’s years ago.

They’ve had years to prepare for this and what have they done in the interim to bring in investment?
What have they brought in to Wrexham?

If you must spend money on consultants, how about spending it on those who will bring inward investment instead of this fatalistic obsession with cuts.

The best defence involves a strong and confident offence, bring in more business to the area and thus more money as well as focus on possible efficiencies.

Art projects are a very hard sell and a bitter pill to swallow when front line services are being cut.

If the council was deploying all possible efforts towards finding and attracting industry and investment to the area that will contribute a real, hard, fiscal return, I would be all for an Arts project.

I would be desperately trying to recruit a ‘Dr Gwyn Jones’ to repeat the successes of the WDA.
Regardless of some of the controversies that surrounded the man, he really did the business for Wales.

Bring in some real, inward investment to the area to spread the rates bills of the remaining, surviving Wrexham businesses and THEN spend the money on vanity projects.

    An Arts hub ffs.
That’s really going to increase footfall for the town’s retailers.
You couldn’t make it up, you really couldn’t.

I’m afraid Jim that the very best you may hope for, is a contrite and well hackneyed, ‘Lessons Will Be Learnt’.

Bullet points for anyone who can’t be arsed reading through that grammatically poor diatribe.

‘The whole budget debacle is far too complex for the ‘ignorant man in the street’ to understand.’

    ‘I’m great.’

    ‘Local labour are evil.’

‘Vote for me, vote for me, vote for me.’

Frankly, it’s little wonder that the average person is so turned off from local politics.
