I should have written more clearly. My intention was to suggest that the town needs to fill the empty TC shops rather than build new ones.I agree, Lidl will have done their homework and yes Alunh, I agree with your second paragraph!
The headline for this topic is, I think misleading! Aaron Banks does not run rings around anyone at this hearing. All he does is throw out insults when he is cornered.

Altrincham market is an entirely different concept. It is purely a market with the usual array of stalls in the outdoor market and the indoor market is purely a food court. There is no arts element. I’m not sure of the £175,000 cost as it was a joint venture between Trafford Council and a private company who let out the indoor pitches to other food vendors. The indoor market was hardly changed, the old shops just became food prep area’s The food vendors by the way charge almost £10 for pie and mash or fish and chips, I can’t see that going down well in Wrexham!

Well I’m still none the wiser who he is, but dear god, as an opening gambit that old “The money has gone” chestnut was the lamest thing I’ve heard in a long while.
I’ve just finished watching the programme and I am quite relieved actually. I am relieved because the issues tackled in the programme were about Wales as a whole not just Wrexham. The programme was broadcast from Wrexham and some of the examples were from Wrexham, but that is exactly what they were – examples. Examples of the sort of problem every community in Wales (and beyond) face.
As to the absences, perhaps they were not invited!! Perhaps our PCC was not invited in favour of the PCC for Gwent to give the programme more of a national brief. Perhaps Cllr Bithell wasn’t invited to participate because the nothing constructive to offer – who knows. What did occur to me was that Cllr Hugh Jones spoke well for our community and I, personally am minded to give him more listen time. Shame he represents the party which has sparked some of thee problems.
Having read a bit about this application, it saddens me to read of it’s refusal. The nettle needs to be grasped and this appears to be a well constructed and presented plan to help vulnerable people who are too often marginalised. A missed opportunity WCBC.

I am in the pro-Ty Pawb lobby, but I accept it will be an uphill struggle to generate patronage. My suggestion would be to engage children whist still at school. Some will continue to be interested in artistic matters in later life. The other thing is to be diverse in the offering. Apart from canvas type art or “craft” events use it to demonstrate some local sporting prowess or use the cinema area for showing local history or maybe theatre performances. Start a literary festival just like Hay on Wye did years ago. Maybe work with Yr Urdd to attract Welsh literature or exhibitions to town. There are national “art” exhibitions which tour the country and these should be encouraged to stop off in our town. We could work with the University or colleges of higher education to show off some of their achievements. The traders themselves might have an interest which will attract visitors. Dare I say, but even Berwyn Prison might be able to offer something (fill in your own jokes about files in cakes or escapist art etc)
Point is to try lots of different things, some will work, some won’t, but we must have a facility in town to appeal to more people and generate footfall for the traders. Or we might just as well rely on McDonald’s for our artistic stimulation.
Whilst everyone has a right to an opinion, quite frankly “votethecouncilorsout” we get your opinion on Ty Pawb, you want it to fail. We get the message.
As for you constant references to an arts centre in Altrincham (not Altringham) I would be interested to know where this is so that I might visit next time I journey to deepest darkest Greater Manchester.
