Coming back to the original thread – I wonder if the Council will settle ‘out of court’ as they could be held culpable for permitting planning permission on land that clearly is inappropriate (far cheaper than trying defend a ‘class’ action by all of the residents). It’s not that long since huge amounts of work had to be carried out near this site due to the old workings flooding and the houses being damaged– who paid for that work? Council, solicitors developers or home owners?
Regarding the Llay site am I correct that one of the main underground tramways between Llay Main and Gresford Colliery is under the proposed housing site.

Brewery’s are doing these types of development in a number of places — locally Red Lion in Marford and the pub by Five Crosses– with less drinkers driving (good job) the need for the large car parks is no longer there.
Businesses do not ‘speculate’ when it comes to building new stores they have all of the data of potential use already from a variety of retail data sources.
Regarding the Kingsmill it self it is a disgrace that the Council have let the building deteriorate with broken windows, graffiti and remnant of many cars that are set on fire or smashed up. Al this after many £100k of Lottery and other funding was spent to get the place refurbished and older residents in the area will no doubt remember the day that Lady Diana visited to open the place to the public.

I don’t think any sitting politician can assume they have safe seats — if there are more smaller parties and Independents that stand this time plus UKIP the votes will be spread over a broader range so safe majorities are likely to be shrunk very considerably.

What are the Council and Police doing to control the bus drivers in and around King Street. Often they dint seem to know how to use indicators, they have no idea about the length of their bus causing havoc outside the Fat Cat and stopping traffic flow and the same by the CoOp queuing to get to a stand. Pedestrian and driver nightmare with a fatality waiting to happen act now before it happens.

Phil – I admire your enthusiasm over this and agree the way forward is a Wrexham Trust — before you get any of us on these threads possibly signing up we need to know what it is that is being proposed. Need more information please.

Interesting point — how can a business sell something at a price which is not legal tender unless you buy 10 of them — in this case 10 litres x 0.9p = 9p

Less services = less managers, less staff and yes there should be less Councilors. With fundamental changes to the shape of service delivery by Councils in the future means they should never remain the same and should adapt to their new role.

Sorry to put a dampner in some of the views in this thread but the solution to empty shops is to accept that 100% occupancy will never be the case in the future. Wrexham along with other towns and cities has at least 25% more space than required (at present- the prediction nationally i that on current floor space there will be a 45% surplus by 2020).
Everyone needs to plan for the future and stop trying to resurrect the past – it will never come back.
The salvation of any retail business starts with the product/price and service offering not with politicians tinkering at the edges of the business expenses by reducing rates. If a business is desperate to get a 10/15% reduction in rates to make them profitable then they need to look very closely at the overall sustainability as the profitability is clearly far to low to survive.
For small one person businesses spending all there waking hours trying to make end meet — I would ask the question WHY? Your life and family is worth more than ‘dying behind the counter’. When did you last have a day off and dare I ask when did you last have a holiday with your partner or family?
