Refuse to accept superannuation which typically costs the Council 20% of an employees gross pay.

Argue for fewer elected members to serve on the Executive Board.

Maybe they also ought to exact promises from their AM’s, MP’s and Police Commissioners to forgo their membership of superannuation.

If they don’t then I would argue they are putting themselves up as being virtuous so as to win over the minds of those members of the general public who feel let down by the whole political system rather than being principled want to be elected County Councillors.

    Cllr Phil Wynn

Ps for the avoidance of doubt these are my own views on how to drive down the cost of democracy.

People already complain about the quality of these elected officers – I’m not sure how reducing the size of their remuneration package by 20% is going to help increase this quality! If you pay peanuts you get monkeys.

If North Wales is the 4th best place to visit in the world and Wrexham is the 2nd best place to visit in North Wales, surely that means that WREXHAM IS THE 8th BEST PLACE TO VISIT IN THE WORLD! Approximately

Why should they use their own equipment for their work? Nice to see them coming into the 21st Century.

The increases being proposed are paltry – no wonder Wrexham is struggling to attract quality Counsellors.

Once those houses are built, those roads probably will be used as a makeshift overspill car park for the hospital anyway.
Really glad that someone had better Excel skills than me– what is interesting from an accounting view point is that the Council have been splitting the costs over 4 different budget headings– has this been deliberate to deflect people from seeing the full amount easily or is it they actually have more than one contract in place. The big one which is supposed to be 10% of £45m what are they others for?
It really does show that the management in the Council need to go as ratepayers are paying for them and now consultants to do the same role surely this is double funding or is it covering up the incompetence of the management team to get and so their job of managing change.
PWC like most consultants generally talk to existing management and staff and then regurgitate in a format that looks like their work rather than letting managers get on and do the job.
Hiding behind a consultant’s report when things get difficult really shows a complete lack of leadership and an inability to deal with difficult decisions.
Nen I dont think anyone is questioning PWC proffesional ability to carry out the task the real issue is why have them in the fisrt place.
Why does any organisation buy in consultancy? To fill short term skill gaps when they are needed. It is not cost effective to permanently employ these highly paid people. They should be identifying savings that will help counteract any cuts.

Not sure what the problem is? PWC is a quality firm providing consultancy services.
Yes and (i am told) to the tune of £380,000. Is that what we want in the days when essential services are being cut back? Barmy!
What cost £380k? To draw up the plans or the funding to increase the number of Welsh speakers? If it’s the former then that’s a lot of money. If it’s the latter then it’s frankly not enough.

I can’t believe that a teacher is boasting to the press about this! And allowing herself to be photographed with the object. I hope that she is no longer a teacher – not a great role model for young people.

Yes, it took me ages to get through last time I called and by the time the police got here the perps were long gone. Think I’ll dial 999 next time.
