The problem is the same as it is for Betsi, not a lack of money but a lack of Drs wanting to come and work in the area. My surgery has only got two Drs, over the summer we were warned that only emergency appointments could be booked as there would only be one Dr available from July to September. The lack of GPs is pushing us to A&E which also has too few Drs, it’s a self fulfilling problem. Of course there is the major issue of people wasting both GPs and A&Es time with health problems which will go away by themselves and do not need treatment. You would have to have been in a coma for the last 40 years or terminally stupid not to know that there is no treatment for a cold. In Ireland they brought in a small charge to see the GP, not to make money but to stop the time wasters. Overnight the inability to see a GP when you needed disappeared and there wasn’t a surge in death rate. Unless you are a complete numpty you know if you are properly ill or not and if you really need to see a Dr.

They do have a gym in Flintshire County Council and all WCBC staff have discounted membership of Council gyms. I would be very surprised if there was no charge to the Police officers using their gym.

I don’t understand why it became undesirable to name the prison after the place it is based. It seemed to become a fad to give prisons obscure names so not as to offend the people living in the town or city in which it was based. Like anyone would be so dumb as to be offended by it.
It’s the same issue with giving the health boards in Wales stupid names, a recent study showed one of the reasons medical staff weren’t applying for jobs in Welsh health boards is they had no idea where they were.
No doubt the prison, if the Welsh Gov has anything to do with it, will be given some daft and inappropriate name. They named our health board after a syphlitic whore who died in her own brothel in Liverpool. Not only nothing to do with health, barely anything to do with Wales (she was born in Bala) but unlike BCUHB she was a successful business woman who could manage a screw in a brothel.

I think a 24/7 NHS would be a bit ambitious in Wales, an NHS that didn’t involve a 72 week wait for the pain clinic or a 70 mile drive for chemotherapy would be a start. The dreadful WG has totally screwed up the NHS, overstuffing the management and back office to boost their voting base at the detriment to medical staff. Top jobs have been given on political basis not ability. Everything the Welsh Gov has touched has turned to ashes, worse schools, worse infrastructure and their ‘flagship’ anti poverty schemes have made no difference and wasted millions which should have benefited those most in need.

I work for local govt, for years there has been chronic and irresponsible waste of money by the public sector. Councils haemorrhage money with poor procurement, management and unnecessary practices. If they made simple changes to the way the purchased goods and services, improved supervision of staff and adopted a lean approach, there would be no need to cut services. But I guess it’s easier to blame someone else than accept that your actions have caused the difficulties you currently face.

I should imagine that Carwyn Jones is worried. 2016 Assembly elections held whilst the Labour Party is reducing Local Govt in Wales, who are of course a huge support base for the party. Add in the gains made by UKIP in the percentage of votes and it’s enough to give him some wakeful nights.

I am very dubious about the anti-fracking arguments. The Green Party are notorious for using anti-science and pseudo-science to try and promote their arguement. For example, they are taking an anti-GMO stance when all genuine studies have shown that they are safe and will reduce food poverty world wide. I want to see some non-hysterical discussions on the merits of fracking or not as the case may be. As feedshallow has said, Russia is a big controller of fuel, France gets 100% of its gas from Russia, which is why they were slow and reticent in condemning Putins annexing of parts of the Ukrain.

It is another example of social engineering by the Welsh Gov, with short term funding and little actual research into whether it was viable in Wrexham. The failure is the failure of the Welsh Gov and their increasingly facist Welsh language agenda.

No surprises, I could put a red ribbon on my cat and he’d get voted in. Politics has become a religion, people will vote the way they always have or the way their parents did regardless of policy or how many times a party has destroyed the economy.
