Boycotting elections does nothing. Actively going out and voting for someone other than the sitting councillors gets things changed.

I like the new cleaner look. The old one looked like it had been put together by a work experience kid.

Well, I am talking generally and not singling out any particular individual or group for praise or spite.

Several true independants can form an alliance of course, but the ex-Labour councillors calling themselves a group of Indpendants was silly at best. I also agree a politician who changes a political party should stand for re-election on his new platform in a by-election. Certainly one who jumps from one affiliation to another should be treated with some scepticism.

But I also stand by what I posted: not all independants are spiteful malcontents or political extremists ejected from their previous party. And the only wasted vote is the one not cast.

That seems a bit extreme. Some indepentants stand up for local issues or to campaign against a sitting MP who is mired in corruption. They have principles. I will agree that there have benn some independants whose independant status has been because their previous party was not right/left wing enough but we can’t bunch all independants under one umbrella.

Also, the only vote wasted is the one not cast.

Was the population really made aware though. I found out about through the Wrexham.com website but what other avenues were taken? While voter apathy is a big problem in the UK I bet a great proportion of residents didn’t even know about it.
