In a built up area with lamposts less than 200 yards apart, the speed limit is 30 mph, signs or no signs. The Police will not accept “no signs” as an excuse for speeding.

No probs with this, I just think it’s all been a bit ill-conceived. The lights are only on one side of the road too so I don’t know whether that’s deemed a ‘system of street lighting’.

Either way I just think that people won’t take notice when a road that’s historically been 40mph is now 30 – with no clear indicator (at least not for the whole stretch of the road) that a change has taken place.

There’s been some mass confusion with Cefn Road – and not just that stretch. Agreed there are some conflicting messages with 40mph / National Speed Limit Signs. Further up towards Rhosnesni they removed a 30mph sign – so people don’t know (on that stretch at least) whether it’s 30 or 40 (they tend to assume the latter).

After a bit of previous debate on here about this very topic a temporary(ish) looking electronic 30mph sign appeared by the new roundabout (Abenbury) but has subsequently disappeared again!!

People are unlikely to get caught for speeding here (doing over 30 anyway) as by law I don’t think anything would be enforceable due to lack of clear signage.

The wife got a ticket whilst parking in homebargins reason “she left the car park” even though she was in store shopping. Spoke to the area manager and it was sorted.

One of our followers on Twitter reported the same thing there – a speculative invoice pretty much!! Always good to check with the staff as they are in the know about these scams…

I think the ‘orange shop’ is probably one of a few we’re not exactly proud of and the difficulty is once we allow that sort of appearance it sets a precedent across the board.

Is the speed in which people drive down Summerhill Rd your primary concern Arfon or the more general layout?

I’ve noticed a few parts of that road could do with some resurfacing while they’re at it!

The first couple of days obviously had heavy media coverage so that’s likely to wane a bit, but who knows hopefully people will be excited enough to come out and have a look. For most of us it’s a once in a lifetime event having the Olympics in the UK (albeit England!) so it’s worth embracing!

Hope the new industrial estate link road (opening in July!!) won’t have any speed humps!! I do think the link road, though not without controversy, will be a very positive thing for the town and wider economy.
