Good that the reads are still here but with so little debate going on at the moment I would be surprised if that continued to be the case. Would have thought the election would have given plenty of topics for discussion TBH or have most already resigned themselves to the possibility that none of the other 6 candidates have a realistic chance of breaking Labour’s 80 year long stronghold here?

@Lemonpopsical What about hydroelectric?, this rarely seems to get mentioned. Austria invested in this technology (through a series of smaller as well as larger plants) and the results speak for themselves. Outputs from these plants is not too shabby at all, it’s clean, renewable and is now providing around 60% of their electricity.

We do have other options but these options require investment and at the moment this doesn’t appear to be happening. Perhaps our next government (which is likely to be a coalition of some description) may begin moves to change this rather than simply selling us out to the frackers? Not holding my breath though…

    @Zinger
, the test drill at Borras is supposedly for CBM as was the test drill at Ellesmere Port where the drilling company ‘accidentally’ drilled around 700m deeper than they had permission for and found shale. Easy mistake to make I suppose… (BTW it’s the same company carrying out the operations at Borras). Unconventional gas extraction is either generally bundled under the ‘fracking’ umbrella or used as a ‘it’s not fracking’ argument, seems to depend on which side of the fence the person sits… (it’s much of a muchness TBH).

I feel residents who are faced with having this on their doorsteps have every right to be concerned TBH. This fledgling industry is pretty much self regulated at the moment with virtually no infrastructure in place to sort out any subsequent problems (financial or environmental) should they arise. There are also issues in this particular area which I fear could well lead to problems that would be extremely difficult to sort out.

Any any financial gains gas drilling is likely to bring to the area would appear to be reserved for the drilling companies and anyone who rents them land to operate on. Like others I am also far from convinced onshore gas extraction in the UK is going to lead to cheaper energy costs.

As for the usual highlighting of The Green Party as an opponent of this what about the other 2 candidates who have signed the Greenpeace pledge? Also on the latest Wrexham Parliamentary candidate video our current MP claims to be unconvinced. I wait with baited breath to hear what the remaining candidates have to say… I’ll be honest with only weeks to go I still have absolutely no idea who I shall be voting for but it will not be anyone I fear may sell Wrexham out on this.

Just seen this, don’t know if it’s of interest to any on here? https://www.facebook.com/events/1429389057362686/

Also do those roadside election placards actually do anything? (other than look rather unsightly).

Looks like it doesn’t really matter how secure they build this prison…

For reference this is how the forum looks on my smartphone (Android Lolipop 5.0.2, it’s the same on Firebox & Chrome as mentioned earlier). Is this what others have been experiencing?

Darryl, not sure if this is the same as others viewing the forum on mobile devices have experienced? (hence the ‘awful’ comment) but for me headers do not line up and some text is overwritten.

Other minor issues I have noticed are ‘reply’ feature on posts does not seem to work (just posts a normal reply) and if you take too long compiling a comment (before submitting) it seems to disappear.

I’m sure these are nothing your web goblins can’t sort out.

    Hope this helps.

Site (especially forum) is all over the place for me on Android as well (Firefox & Chrome). My phone updated to the latest OS this morning (Lollipop something or other), don’t know if that has anything to do with it?

Viewing off PC using Firefox/Windows 7 it’s not too bad.

Obviously no one should find unruly behaviour acceptable but I’m not entirely convinced that is what has happened here.

The steward ‘couldn’t cope’ & ‘broke down in tears’… sounds like he’s in the wrong job to me. And what’s all this about? ‘The police did try reasoning with him but the captain then came out and put his arm round the steward and said he wouldn’t fly with us on board.’ Then the report states ‘Officers attended and, as requested, the group left the aeroplane in a peaceful manner.

    ‘No offences were committed.’

Also if their behaviour was deemed to be unacceptable why were they not requested to pipe down rather than calling the boys in blue to have them removed? Seems a tad draconian to me.

Perhaps the real criminals here could be Cryin Air aided by the usual shoddy sensationalist reporting we’ve come to expect from the Daily Fail, who get a couple of nobodies off a Spanish news website to stick their 2p’s worth in at the end of the article. Why did they not track down a few of the passengers who were actually on the aircraft when this alleged incident took place?

Not sure about 1-0 on this one Sheefag, sounds like there’s 2 sides to this story. Think this needs to go to penalties…
