MetalheadParticipantThe discounters seem to be doing this nationwide these days, setting up as near as possible to the big boys knowing that they are likely to take a notable percentage of their business. This strategy appears to be working for them, for example it wasn’t the Lidl store in Gwersyllt that closed was it..? Doubt many have much sympathy for any of the big four TBH, this is only what they have been doing to their competition for the past 30 years or so. That said, Wrexham is raining supermarkets already, for the size of the town the amount it has is ridiculous.
MetalheadParticipant
…Given that both applicants point heavily to the overturned Marford decision, pretty similar – I can’t see why the inspector won’t overturn these as well.
Reckon you are probably correct, although the overturning of the Marford decision did raise many eyebrows around these parts. Whatever your view on whether this area wanted/needed this store, it was hard to comprehend how an application with so many issues got passed. For a start it fell foul of the most basic planning law there is, it was too close to a neighbouring residential property.
The fact that this controversially overruled decision now appears to be setting a precedent for similar applications is a tad concerning TBH. If I recall correctly WCBC’s planning committee voted this application 15-0 against, Borras test drilling was another (think that was 17-2 against), unsurprisingly that decision got overturned as well… If decisions made by local planning committee’s can simply be overturned what exactly is the point of them?
MetalheadParticipantJust a had quick peep on their site and spotted this, they boast:
‘….national coverage using its own vehicles, specifically ‘fitted-out’ to transport delicate electronic equipment.’
I always wondered how delicate electronic equipment should be transported…
I wonder if their customers would be interested in seeing this…?
MetalheadParticipantSo it looks as though Inspector Ferret of the Wrexham.com Grammar Police carried out a raid on the wrong post then… Deserves to be demoted to a GPSCO for an error like that! :)
MetalheadParticipantBobo, This was reported locally, Leader ran this story a few days ago. Report suggests this person intends to continue teaching.
MetalheadParticipantIt’s not really a case of boarding the Daily Fail’s outrage bus more of how on earth can this person remain as a teacher? All I know is when I was 15 or so outdoor breaktimes would have been ‘Thought you had been told to stay away from the grass Miss’ and ‘the clock strikes 12…. BONG!’ etc. etc.

MetalheadParticipantNot sure what the point of this is TBH? (unless it’s part of some uniform scheme which may aid a future bid for city status?). Suppose they could always do this on a budget by taking a leaf out of VW’s book and get Hackney owners to simply trade a few panels!

Couldn’t find fault with anything said really.
Other than he appeared to think Boris Yeltsin was still the president of Russia!
MetalheadParticipantI did watch the candidate videos (cheers Wrexham.com) and although I found them interesting I still have no idea who the hell to vote for?!! They did however help be add to my list of people I will not be voting for. I was hoping to get to the Wrexham Leaders Debate thing but doesn’t look like that’s going to be possible, does anyone know if this will uploaded to YT or the like?
