    Very interesting goings on:
    https://www.plaskynastoncanalgroup.org/

We are seeking a loan for this from the Business Development Banc of Wales and have put together a supporting Business Plan. To be successful in securing the required loan it will be necessary for all parties to work with us. The main ones being WCBC, CRT and Eastman Chemicals.

This was from 7 years ago:
    https://www.oldleaderlivestory.co.uk/news/15935982.former-cefn-chemical-site-could-be-mineral-goldmine/

They want a cable car system but they also want someone to start commercial mineral extraction acitivities in the village. Sure the locals will love that.

As much as I don’t like the Tory Westminster Government, I’m talking about the lack of competence delivered from the so-called Independent-led Wrexham Council on a local level. As easy as it is to scapegoat – we can’t blame May, Hammond & Co for everything that has happened in Wrexham when poor decisions have been made – we technically also have a layer of Labour in the Welsh Government as well.

There are so many bad things that have happened since Plasmadocgate split local Labour and pushed us into an independent ran council.

Kingdom, Hundreds and thousands of money Wasted over the Groves Site, Rampant open Spice Drug Abuse in the town centre, Homeless Shanty Towns, Ghost Shopping Regions, Potholes, Failing and Cash Strapped Schools, Failure to deliver a new leisure centre as promised to replace tired Waterworld, Car Crime through the roof still, street lights left off in some areas at night to save money. Ty Pawb launch debacle. Councillors insulting and making jokes about the mentally ill as if we were in the Victorian era during a recorded planning debate.

Then the apparent successes seem to always exaggerate the greatness of one-off annual events such as the Christmas Light Switch on and the Victoria Christmas Market. We want things to be better all year round, not just for half a day on a few days a year.

When they have the drug dogs out they are carrying out specific drug enforcement and detection activity so it is to be expected that even the slightest whiff will get them going and anyone who has the slightest amount will be caught out. But the fact of the matter is that the average officer on the street isn’t going round with a drug dog looking for those who have just lit up – so when they are not with dog – it goes unenforced. If they were that interested in catching everyone out there’d be drug dogs everywhere.

Police and Crime Commissioner for North Wales is pro-legalisation of cannabis and advocate of the opening of cannabis cafes in the country plus use for medicinal treatment purposes across the health service.

It’s also a well circulated fact that despite cannabis being reclassified as a Class B drug – there are hardly any instances where stop and search is carried out on those openly smoking weed as the smell of cannabis alone is not even a legitimate probable cause reason for stop and search. Additional evidence is required that might suggest that the individual has possession of significant quantities of the drug with intent to supply – e.g. sets off a sniffer dog or other intelligence gathered – suspicious dealer type behaviour. Obviously the odour can be used in suspicion of drug driving as would the smell of alcohol on breath be an indicator of drink driving. Those in charge of vehicles are held to a higher account due to higher levels of risk associated with dangerous driving and death due to intoxication.

But ultimately the majority of individuals will be able to smoke up in public completely free of any hindrance from law enforcement unless they are actively creating any other kind of public nuisance or crime.

With the entire relaxed attitude to the recreational use of cannabis by law enforcement and the glorification of smoking up in popular music, film and TV culture because of the almost legal status in Hollywood – parents are going to have a very hard time deterring youngsters from doing the same. I also very much doubt any children of parents who grew up in the 60s or later will be very anti-weed anyway.

Mental health and other health concerns – well it goes without saying anything in too high a quantity is bad for you and it will affect some people negatively – just look at chocolate for example. Far more people clogging up the NHS due to obesity issues than anything else.

Understanding health effects and regulation would be easier if it was legalised. Just look st alcohol and tobacco. I’m sure government would love to be able to tax it too.

No, the point is the man is blind that’s why he has a blue badge. But all disabled badge holders don’t automatically get given PIP – so there is a ridiculous assumption there.

FYI I’m a massive f*ck you government & wars pacifist – hate them – yes, he opted to enlist in the forces as a career and it has its risks and some level of UK military is required. As we saw in the Ireland troubles. Regardless of whether or not we had Tony Blair warmongers sending people places into illegal wars. Forces personnel were killed during the Troubles but they were not treated with contempt like those sent to Iraq. A soldier is not responsible for the glorification of death & war. They do what they are told. It’s the people up top to blame – very much how the CEOs of these large tax avoiding corporations are to blame – you wouldn’t go in and abuse someone for choosing to work in Starbucks.

Plus this mans actual heroism is not tied in with how many kills he got in Iraq – it’s to do with overcoming the odds and not giving in after he was dealt such bad luck and then in turn was able to help others. There was an article from earlier in the year where he wanted to donate £15,000 worth of his prosthetics to British non-veteran amputees – but he was unable to do so because of British rules and regulations so in the end he donated them to a South African charity instead.

If you are angry about the unfairness of PIP and wars point your anger in the right direction the government – rather than 1 person from the local area who has done well for once. Let’s not act like “well look he’s not terminally depressed and unable to move like he should be after he got blown up let’s strip him of his benefits!”

There are not many people making enough positive changes in the real world so why should we be sat here (myself included) keyboard warrioring – we’ve done nothing in comparison.

Everyone is treated the same – mobility is only 2 scoring elements out of 12 of the PIP assessment criteria:

For each descriptor to apply you must show that you are unable to carry out the activity “reliably, repeatedly, safely and in a timely manner”.

Of the twelve activities, ten relate to the daily living component (such as “preparing food and drink” and “reading and understanding signs, symbols and words”) while two relate to the mobility component (“moving around”, for example)

The fact of the matter is that this is completely ridiculous anyway as Janey merely assumed that he was on PIP – no-one has any idea if he does or he doesn’t claim. He works as a charity fund raiser and a motivational speaker so I’m pretty certain he gets some kind of living cost remuneration through that.

Bloody hell Janey – the man is a hero! He got blown up in a war zone, lost both his legs, his testicles and his sight. The fact that he’s even alive is nothing short of a miracle & the fact that he’s dealt with such horrible setbacks to become a father and achieve all these other things will be an inspiration to others in a similar situation.

So begrudging him a parking space & pip is in completely bad taste. Sometimes people need to stop having a pop at others and just give it a rest.

Well done Shaun completely well deserved!

I think Wrexham.com has the right balance of hyperlocal content – does what it says on the tin. The majority of people from Wrexham and probably other locations in the rest of North East Wales probably couldn’t care less about what’s going on in the other towns and counties as it has very little impact on them. This is proven by the news disconnect between North and South Wales where the South covers very little about what is going on up North and vice-versa.

Chill is right the digital era has completely changed how certain content types and functions in the traditional print media have been made obsolete. If you look at various subsections of the Leader set-up back in the day.

Gypsy Jean – who didn’t love the Bargain Bazaar buy/sell page. But now we have Facebook local goods/wants and eBay etc…

Lonely Hearts Section – All replaced by left and right swipery – Tinder, Grindr, DateAJacko.com type sites.

What’s going on locally – Even more hyper local community news – if you want to drill down into the latest jam and bake sale and local sporting club endeavours you go on one of the many Local Facebook Groups set-up around Wrexham or get a Town centre or overall county matters discussion. You look at those groups and they are all have admin and dedicated contributors who spend many hours on there for free covering more local news than was ever covered within the local press.

Fantasy Football – used to be featured in the Leader and you’d have to phone an expensive 0845 number to make team changes. Now all done for free online or on apps.

Business Adverts – commercial business and want to advertise locally? Far more effective and trackable to do so via Facebook/Instagram/Google.

I’m not saying it’s all perfect – there was something about reading things in print in papers which was superior and more ritualistic in many ways to finding things out online.

I dare say there is a gap in the market for a digital interest site covering North East Wales where people are encouraged to contribute in their local regions and areas of interest and expertise. It could not cause any harm to bring together some kind of stronger cultural identity online for North East Wales.

Same applies to Wrexham as a whole – it’s all very disjointed at the moment where you have to trawl to find out what. You have to join about 20+ local interest groups and follow several key influencers to piece things together – it’s like some kind of giant grapevine.

There’s also no real strong editorial style/opinion pieces being developed and distributed for people to read – except for perhaps the very strong political partisan driven ones from Plaid/Labour/Conservatives etc… you’d think there’s be a few more prominent bloggers/vloggers or podcasts just about Wrexham and how people feel.

I’d like to see things push forward in that direction – if you packaged all that together – the local interest hits would be through the roof.

Derek I think that is the beauty of the Triage system – if you really feel you need to be seen by a medical professional – you will be seen no matter how trivial the issue. And if the issue is minor then your penalty there is your time waiting. Anyone who doesn’t want to wait clearly it isn’t important and they can go home and reduce the queue.

Then ultimately any more urgent cases than the low priority triage queue will always queue jump and be seen more quickly. I feel like the main people who moan about waiting times at A&E are those being impatient who could have waited for the doctor a few days later.

The fact of the matter is when there are ambulances stacked outside the hospital it’s not because people with sore thumbs and headaches are wasting the vital time of doctors etc… it’s because there are genuinely a large number of critically ill/injured patients who need treatment and stabilising before new ones can be moved in. In that case the people waiting in the ambulances are in the hands of the best life saving people possible – paramedics.
