I actually do believe that at heart there are those like Ian who has always made no bones about his Remain stance but has since had to reign it in. Primarily to keep both Labour Lexit Leaver voters happy as well as the local Corbynistas who he completely alienated directly after the Brexit vote. So his agenda is probably that he hopes it will stop Brexit along with quite a few MPS voting against.

What’s most interesting is that only Theresa May herself has been repeatedly threatening that Brexit won’t happen at all. She campaigned for Remain before the vote. She is also pivotal in the actual frustration of enacting any kind of Brexit whatsoever.

Had she not called that Botched 2017 election where she threw away a working Goverent majority and now has to rely on those con artists the DUP whose support has now evaporated – she’d have got Brexit legislation pushed through Parliament easily and probably months ago – with all the transitional arrangements and trade deals on the way. But instead, just over 2 months before the Brexit date we are in this shambolic mess.

If voting this deal through is the only way for Brexit to happen you have to wonder why Rees Mogg and the ERG group are voting against it so fiercely? If they want Brexit over hell or high water surely they should just vote it through, then vote May out, replace her with a more hardline Brexiteer and then sabotage the deal internally and force no deal. Makes you wonder what they know that we don’t and what their game plan is?

Lucas and Labour’s goal is to see the government fail and hopefully push for a general election – which is the main purpose of the opposition party – try and get a chance to govern. I’d say judge them on their Brexit intentions if an election comes as they’ll have to make it crystal clear this time in the manifesto.

From the Tory side, you have to wonder who is running the show and how many different layers of deception are going on behind the scenes. They feel like 2 different parties at the moment. What is certain is they have broken their promises on a strong and stable Government and a smooth and orderly Brexit.

In the full article Lucas states that he is voting against Theresa May’s current ‘Terrible’ Brexit deal. He’s not actually voting against Brexit itself.

Wrexham MP to vote against “terrible” Brexit deal tonight – stating it will have “dire consequences for people”

    He has stated that

“I do believe that a separate Brexit deal is possible – one which gives us a close future relationship with the EU and keeps us in a customs union during the transition period – and I feel such an agreement would have broad support on both sides of the House. Time will tell.”

I’m not sure how people can explain how he is voting against the best interests of Wrexham Leave voters when Jacob Rees-Mogg and his ERG who want a Hard Brexit are also voting against this deal as well.

In terms of his parliamentary job of garnering the opinions and wishes of his electorate and to enact them in the Commons? The referendum question was do you want to remain in the EU or leave EU – it did not poll constituents on the type of Brexit they wanted. So it’s impossible to know who wants what. Perhaps some hard leavers who follow the cult of Rees-Mogg are glad he’s voting against the deal so they can get a no deal Brexit. So therefore some people will be unhappy and others won’t.

Brexit, the topic where you’re guaranteed that many people will be unhappy about different things.

Funnily enough Plaid have been blamed for leaking the numbers. So I imagine there’s more than a few councillors / officers etc… less than happy behind the scenes of Clr Bithell has kicked off publicly about it.

So many emotive topics in Wrexham.

The council make up all these weak excuses about being unable to enforce things against contractors but if they actually took the time to draw up half decent legal contracts when the work takes place – they’d actually have a leg to stand on when it comes to shoddy workmanship & eliminate the cowboys.

The very fact that they allowed someone as large as Virgin Media to get away with piss poor workmanship & causes months of additional disruption shows just how weak the council is – it’s embarassing.

My guess is some people don’t have the choice but to work in England because there are insufficient jobs based in North Wales?

Anyone who wants to work in England should be applauded over those who choose to sit on their backsides in Wrexham and do sweet FA and just claim benefits because they moan that there’s no easy job for them less than a mile from their homes.

Further relevant to this point – Deeside.com just published that Flintshire has a backlog of £40m worth of road repairs!

    http://www.deeside.com/condition-of-flintshires-deteriorating-roads-flagged-as-major-risk/

Would be interesting to know what the situation is in Wrexham.

Some good points Zinger. As well as all the other infrastructure issues in Wrexham and the wider North West/Wales area one of the major concerns is the road networks.

We are on such a busy pass through route in Wrexham that as well as the A483 and A55 the A5 single carriageway route – none of them can really handle the flow of traffic that comes through at peak times and it’s only getting worse. Some might argue there is gross overdevelopment at play here unless hundreds of millions are invested in the main trunk routes. There’s also the secondary routes across the county that are already battered with potholes and cold winters and insufficient funding – imagine what will happen to them with even more traffic.

It wouldn’t be so bad if it was all just commuter traffic but the volume of lorries going to Wrexham’s huge industrial estate or passing through to Holyhead and up North creates makes it even worse.

Housing and development at any cost needs to be done more intelligently. You look at China when they expand domestically or invest in other countries – what do they spend the most money on first? Making sure that there is a world class transport infrastructure in place first – sufficient road, rail, port expansion and airport capabilities so that when industry and required housing gets put in – whatever area can handle it and doesn’t come to a standstill.

Now there’s arguments the other way that they aren’t as environmentally conscientious as us – but neither is overpopulating an area and having people stuck in traffic jams twice a day.

Nor is it a positive situation to have inherited a completely knock off rail service from Arriva. They are basically the equivalent of a dodgy used car salesman – we’ve been sold a clanger. If we had decent rail services and network and more frequent trains more people would use that to commute between Wrexham and Chester and take prsssure off the roads.

You asked the question Lilly & I provided you with a factual and non opinionated answer based on the information I have.

You can do whatever you want with that information – I am unsure why you are coming across as angry about it.

As a non-religious person I have no stake in what those of faith do to help others. I was just providing the conversation with feedback that I was aware that there are those doing something in the Wrexham area.

Perhaps others could also share some light on anything they aware of from both religious and non religious organisations. Although I dare say they may be hesitant to do so in case they end up having someone jumping down their throats.

Actually I know of at least one Church group in Wrexham that have agreed to use their hall as a homeless shelter on certain nights during the upcoming winter months with members of the congregation volunteering to help with the welfare.

It’s like this thread predicted the future – after Lib Dems Clr Jenkins’ Narnia proposal where he thought the good rate payers of Wrexham would accept a 12% council tax increase in future – someone did call him a clown and Wrexham.com were good enough to relay this to said councillor.

At the end of the day there’s a reason why there’s hardly any Welsh Lib Dems with any elected positions across the country.
