MattParticipant
All seems a bit dodgy to me,what happened to the will of the people blah blah blah.
The briefing with these facts was published on 3 June 2015 apart of the House of Commons Library – over a year before the referendum.
Will of the People is just an angry shouty opinion formed after the referendum.
MattParticipant
No one in the then government ever expected the result to be leave,so three and a bit years later and with an ex Prime minister who was a remainer anyway, this is where we are at.We can only put a cross against what’s on the ballot paper, there are no intricate details, but apparently seventeen million people are to be ignored.
You are either ignoring around 17m people or you are ignoring 16m people. Either way it’s a large volume of people pissed off.
According to the European Referendum Bill 2015-2016 – The Referendum does not contain any requirement for the UK Government to implement the results of the referendum. It influences the Government in its policy decisions. The UK does not have constitutional provisions that would require the results of the referendum to be implemented.

What this means in principle is that in order for Brexit to be carried out successfully Brexiteers must:
i) Vote in a Government that is actually willing to implement Brexit (i.e. all its MPs are actually on board and the party wants Brexit to happen)
ii) Vote in a Government that is actually capable of implementing Brexit – (i.e. have an overall majority to push legislation through, are competent enough to negotiate with the EU, have a convincing enough contingency plan to make sure everything runs smoothly in the event of a no deal)
Conversely anyone who wants to stop Brexit just needs to vote in a Government or coalition with a majority sufficient and willing to stop it.
That is the democratic process – and the only way forward either way because nobody is legally bound to do any RE: the referendum result.

MattParticipant
About 100 turned up to the non event march!
Really sends out a message from Wrexham!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Where are all the proud Brexiteers in the street though in comparison? Since Tommy Robinson got locked up his gang of thugs have been silenced. Where have all the Orange Vests UK gone?
UK-wide lull.
MattParticipant
With everything going on in this country all you have to worry about is petrol pumps?
Shell is expansive btw
Asda Wrexham – Unleaded = 132.9p / Diesel = 139.9p
Sainsbury’s Wrexham – Unleaded = 132.9p / Diesel = 138.9p
Tesco Wrexham – Unleaded = 133.9p / Diesel = 139.9p
When are these prices from? Diesel was about 126p in the supermarkets when I filled up last week.
MattParticipant
Erm,last time I looked 52 beats 48 anyday.
As Ioan said, an election is going to be about more than just one issue. If people want to make it about just one issue that’s fine, just don’t expect everyone to follow suit.
All this time spent by all sides in parliament debating, filibustering, delaying, frustrating, amending, countering, proroguing for Brexit is time spent where other key issues aren’t being legislated on. This means austerity still means the outlook remains austere (despite what chancellor says) and other issues such as education, health, the environment, transport, policing, social welfare all get pushed to one side.
Instead we have to put up with constant bullshit about chlorinated chickens and personal name calling. No matter what side you pick, wouldn’t you rather time was spent on restoring the country and looking after its people?
Not really about ‘Well if we just get on and left then things would improve’ or ‘if we just remained in the EU then things would revert to normal’ – We’ve done just fine for years as a member of the EU and equally we did just fine for years before the EU as a standalone country. It would be more important to have politicians in charge who are actually competent at what they do and care about the country and not their own personal gain. Looking at the last few years it has been painfully obvious that this is not the case for those governing. The very fact that former Conservative PMs and politicians are painfully ashamed of what has happened to the party. Now even businesses and economists are completely alienated by the current administration, stating they’d prefer a labour and socialist programme to what is going on goes to show how far we are from a STRONG AND STABLE GOVERNMENT and country.
MattParticipantCare to enlighten who is going to beat Lucas in a 2-way Brexiteer vote splitting fight between Sarah Atherton & Nathan Gill?
Last time UKIP didn’t put a candidate up to give Andrew a clear run & he still lost.
Election is coming – you’ll get your say in October.

MattParticipantThe election is coming don’t worry -we’re getting ready now. You may continue leaving hilarious takes right out of the far right media and Boris’ propaganda machine.
Ken Clarke and Churchill’s Grandson thrown out of the Tories, Rees Mogg looking like a homeless oik on the front benches. Dominic Cummings running around Westminster pissed on red wine accosting journalists and screaming at Corbyn to call an election.
It’s easy enough to angrily deflect criticism at Corbyn to mask massive catastrophic failings of the Conservative Government but their goose is cooked. That is perhaps part of Corbyn’s power, make him look like a fool, attack his character, state he associates with dodgy characters, but he hasn’t put a foot wrong against either May or Johnson – he has quietly and calmly caused the Tories – out of their own foolishness take a working majority and turn it into a humiliating minority.
You’d best hope Farage and the Brexit party have some magic tricks for this election.

MattParticipantAnnnnnnd in other news the Tories are now 43 short of a majority. Boris is doing a fine job.
So the remainers are complaing that Parliment is closed.
Omg how are they going to debate.
It’s conferance season they wont be debating anyway
If its SO important that they spend as much time as possible
Cancel the 5* Hotels with the Michlin star food and all expenses paid
And go every day to Westminster.
Labour cry for a GE.
Get offered one
Tails between legs run away
Typical Labour
MattParticipant
If these people are so keen on traveling, why don’t they travel further afield? Try Saudi Arabia; I wonder what the level of tolerance to their behavior would be in that country!
Funnily enough there’s over 600,000 Bedouin living in Saudi Arabia (second only to the millions living in Syria) which is the equivalent of a desert traveller – so they’d probably be tolerated quite well there.
Provided they didn’t get involved in any of the following activities punishable by death:
Apostasy
Treason
Homosexuality
Espionage
Murder
Rape
Terrorism
Drug smuggling
Armed robbery
Blasphemy
Burglary if aggravated circumstances, including recidivism
Adultery (Unmarried adulterers can be sentenced to 100 lashes, married ones can be sentenced to stoning.)
Sorcery or witchcraft
Waging war on God
MurderMy guess is the majority will be okay as long as they keep the major blaspheming towards the Christian God and his son.
I’d have to consult someone else on where they stand these days on sorcery and witchcraft type activities.
MattParticipantSurely everyone who can read Welsh will be able to handle their own alphabet & those who have a basic understanding (Welsh second language education) also get what’s going on with the existing system.
Everyone else is just going to read the English signage only? Surely.
