That being said, Labour on a national level are currently a joke. Their policies sound attractive, but are completely unworkable without substantially increasing the national debt. It’s more of a optimistic wishlist than an actual manifesto.
Then there’s the Tories wonderful track record, increasing the national debt from just above £1trn when they came in in 2010 to £1.72trn this year, whilst achieving sweet FA. Mr Osbourne’s Austerity’s magic numbers machine. I don’t think Hammond’s grasp of numbers are very strong & stable either.
I cannot bring myself to vote for Corbyn due to his views on Trident.

Who do you want in charge to the keys to the nukes? Someone who has ruled out making a first strike nuclear attack, or a religious zealot who said they’d consider the nuclear option even if Britain was not under nuclear threat? Now I won’t be able to say I told you so if May in a state of needing sectioning decided to launch one as we’d all in fact be dead. We don’t need Britain’s poxy 120 or so operational nukes as we are more than covered by NATO membership & the powerful deterrent of the US’ 4,000+ nuclear stockpile.

Rather than spending £200bn+ on renewing Trident on a fear of a mythical nuclear war that never materialised that only people who still think through rose tinted glasses that the UK is a major military power on its own, why not put that money to good use in the NHS directly saving lives and making a real difference. Think of the number of nurses and doctors the money could pay for, the number of A&E wards & maternity wards it could stop from closing.

Because I can tell you now that the failure of the NHS will threaten far more lives over the next 50 years than any supposed nuclear holocaust. Yet those viewed as radical on these issues are the ones who want to focus money on things that save lives than things that have the potential to cause a major loss of life.

Wrexham.com tried a Q and A with the Leader of the Council. He did not reply.
So we give up on something after 1 attempt in this life do we? I’m certain other more interesting people from around Wrexham would be more than happy to give a Q&A. People need to start thinking outside of the council and election box.

Although on a more constructive note, things I’d love to see more of on Wrexham.com would be articles like more user submitted contributions. I am pretty certain that there are a number of talented writers in the local area who could cover things of local interest such as the music scene, sports (oo err) and town life in general (where’s the best place to get a decent coffee from local businesses etc…)

That and more interviews/Q&As with local people of interest. I remember that the town centre Inspector one was particularly engaging.

Yes, the Tories with wonderfully down to earth normal people like Desmond Swayne, who launched his campaign to get re-elected today with this photo.

    Swayne

Not forgetting they have finally rolled out the old Bring Back Fox Hunting pledge. What a fantastic bunch.

I know, how dare there be some form of archive on the front page of news from the past week. Instead Rob should flood the page with linkbait articles such as “Gresford local slams Post Office on Twitter for giving out £10 change in new £1 coins” or “13 different ways you can use the Library field – number 5 will shock you”. That’s how news is reported today right?

Let us the Electorate take time to ENSURE that our councillors have
a vote, and use it on OUR behalf.
I think closing door, horse, bolted and stable are words that spring to mind.

This opportunity was on the table, last Thursday. What did the electorate do in general?

    i) voted in the status quo
    ii) didn’t bother to vote

Matt, I cannot agree with this comment, and reading the posts for some time, I am quite sure that this was a general comment and not directed at anyone. I can say that I am not a politician, I have never stood for any public office, neither is that likely to happen in the future. In relation to ‘posting anonymously’ is that not the case for all of the contributors? I am a disgruntled voter, both with local and national politicians, and see a need for many changes to the electoral system. Due to some people’s work, we have to stay apolitical or risk the consequences! I do hope that I am not considered a council electioneering account as that certainly is not the case.

Surely, forums are meant to debate the ‘issues of the moment’, inclusive of all views, and should not limit themselves to a group of ‘regulars’?
I’m at a complete loss here , I replied to your post because it was worthwhile and I was in support of it, I’m not bothered about who is new or has been here a while. It has been discussed in multiple other threads here recently that there are multiple councillor candidates who have suddenly signed up anonymously to discredit other councillor candidates within their own wards and other wards. The point has also been made that these people should have the brass to actually tackle their opponents head on as their own public persona rather than hiding behind an anonymous screen name. There are plenty of candidates on here who are public about who they are and have largely been positive or have taken to debate with complete transparency, I have no problem with these people. Likewise, new people who have signed up to the forums to discuss anything are more than welcome. It’s just there is undeniably underhanded mudslinging going on and adds to the whole point I was making about transparency. If you are a candidate in an election you should be expected to be completely transparent whether you are stating that you are independent or working with a political party formally or informally, you should also be making all your public statements or attacking your opponents publicly and not hiding like a common troll.

I hope that clears things up.
