Andrew as an avid reader of these Foruums this is an open question to you – I wonder if you are prepared to answer?
Wrexham First and then Westminster or Wrexham First and then Cardiff
An avid lurker eh? Must be observing with all the powers of response of someone with locked in syndrome.

If I were him I would certainly want to respond to some of the criticism here.

I’m not even sure the good people of Wrexham really know all that much about him other than that fact that he’s an avid cleaning fanatic. His reputation is as murky as all Tories are. Would be interesting to hear from the good people of Ross on Wye as to how his tenure was as a councillor there – as here we have no record of his elected competence.
Only one developed country has increased health spending by more than the Conservatives have in the UK over the past 5 years.

    Ed Conway, Sky News:
And it certainly wasn’t the Welsh Labour Government.
Of course Ed Conway of Sky News and a columnist of The Times is going to be completely unbiased when it comes to delivering information about the Conservatives. His previous tenures at The Daily Mail and the Telegraph also helped him to develop a well rounded background on full factual truths.

If we look further into Eds claims, we can see why health care spending under the Tories is up under the OECD figures methodology. Billions of pounds of spending previously classified under social care funding was now able to be reclassified under health care spending, thus accounting for an apparent spike in spending.

This is creative accounting and cooking of the books in its finest form. Something the Tories have down to a fine art. Always look beyond the headline figures.
The council might need to take a closer look at the company and its contract with it. It might explain the overeagerness in the town centre, and neglect to adequately fulfil their duties in areas with a similar problem in the outskirts of town that are more difficult to resolve!
100% Agree. These rent-a-bully litter cops are just further driving out shoppers from town and unfairly targeting the worst off. Everyone else is going to the likes of Broughton and Cheshire Oaks etc… where they can shop in a relaxed and free from oppression environment. Fines are being issued and the threat of a criminal record are being issued for trivialities such as receipts or tissue blowing out of people’s pockets or bags on windy days.

Also, for all the negativity and nastiness associated by these legal muggers, the Council are only raking in 11% of the fines. They’d have had a fairer deal going into the business with Hells Angels or the Mob.

Matt, you must be proud of the Facebook page SavePlasMadoc. Vile and disgusting posts by some.
Not in the slightest, I just happened to make my point there as the topic was relevant to that group. Facebook & social media in general is the wild west, you get many people who make reasonable & thought out postings, but many more who think it’s okay to say things on a computer that they would never dare say out loud & don’t even realise that these online postings can potentially be up there forever.

I would like to point out that some of the worst vile & disgusting comments I’ve ever read come fresh from Wrexham.com news stories on Facebook & that doesn’t make those who run this site any more responsible than those who run the Save Plas Madoc page. It’s the whole thing about internet censorship you can gag all views not aligned with your own that may be considered slightly iffy, or you can let them run within the freedom of speech rules.

At the end of the day hate type speech is so common online and those people come across as narrow minded idiots.

Sounds very much like grounds for an FOI request if I ever heard one.

Andrew Atkinson has made it very clear on his Facebook profile in a response to someone asking him about the NHS that there should be more accountability in the Welsh NHS to stop Labour from blaming the Tories for its failings and admits the Conservative run English NHS also has problems. This was from a few days ago, so I wanted to know how he felt about how the Labour run Welsh NHS was running completely fine today on a day where the English run Tory NHS was crippled by a cyber attack with patient treatment unable to be provided in several locations. I was also very interested to know with his need for there to be accountability on health services in general who was going to be held responsible for this critical failure of the NHS in England? He might claim to be Welsh but he’s still a Tory and Tories must be kept away from our Welsh NHS at all costs.

So you’re criticising the Tories for not dealing with the debt, yet are simultaneously advocating a candidate whose economic policies will substantially add to the national debt. The cognitive dissonance is astounding.

This Labour manifesto is one of the most expensive anyone’s ever seen, at a time of high and tight budgets. Most of the money will have to come from increased borrowing.

Socialism is wonderful, until you run out of other people’s money.
No, I’m pointing out that the Tories bash on about fiscal responsibility and want to shine a light on Corbyn’s proposed spending to be irresponsible but their track record is also less than exemplary. I will not put my hand up and say I am an expert in how much individual policies will cost because I believe very few armchair or professional ‘experts’ really have a clue. For example, no-one really knows how much Brexit is going to cost.

I also don’t particularly identify with any socialist or capitalist labels. What I do know is what the Tories have done since 2010 isn’t working and I’m willing to give someone else a chance to run the country. Yes, that’s a risk but I’d rather it than the Farce of Theresa May’s Team.

The Tories have tried to impose but have later u-turned several policies that could have directly impacted on my family, so I’m going to vote against a party that could affect me directly financially, rather than worry about any indirect national financial fears that could happen.
Not me – Darryl did that so I am reading it for the first time over a cuppa!

As a tangent I was pointed to this interesting post on the Save Plas Madoc Facebook page regarding the results and turnout https://www.facebook.com/groups/1388402681406725/permalink/1877799779133677/ and depending on your point of view the result there was either good / bad or indifferent. As you say, the winner there had 14% of the possible turnout and even less if you consider those who did not register to vote.

However, you can only play the game infront of you and all that!
I was quite vocal on that point, as I’d just seen Blackwell get voted in Live on the Wrexham.com video feed and really needed to vent. It has since thrown up interesting discussions across social media about not berating non-voters within areas perceived as deprived as there is an apparent disconnect between politicians and the ‘have-nots’ but I think that has always been the case. I think many people were unaware that there was a strong non-political type independent candidate standing in the ward but the message didn’t get across to the right number of people.

I had followed the post up on Wrexham.com’s interesting article about where there was low voter turnout as the discussion had continued on there. There was a small positive note that the turnout in Plas Madoc for local elections had increased from just under 20% last time to 27% this time, which doesn’t look much, but does actually represent a 35% increase in turnout. Which means all the political activism surrounding the Leisure Centre has at least made a few people take a greater interest [or perhaps it was all the Wrexham.com election coverage ;)]

So far though, the best thing I’ve had from all my online political rantings of late is an invite to the pub for a pint as apparently I need to get out more.
