The tribute in St Giles is amazing, many other local churches also have tributes, Coedpoeth and Brymbo to name two. All worth a visit for this historic anniversary.

Argos is part of Sainsburys, as was Homebase a long time ago. Many Sainsbury stores now have Argos actually in their building.

PFIs only ever had one winner and it never was the tax or rate payer.

Given that most of this waste does appear to be dog waste, why did they not carry it home and dispose of it?

Watch ‘Who’s spending Britain’s Billions?’ first shown 18th or 19th October on BBC2. Wrexham Council is not the only Welsh council to be spending huge amounts of money on consultants Price Waterhouse Cooper and the consultants are laughing all the way to the bank.
Our councillors are not the only ones to be taken in.

Bore da! This is another case of be careful what you wish for. By all means encourage the Welsh language and Welsh culture, but will the next stage be to insist that all business literature, forms, before advertising etc has to be in Welsh or bi-lingual, thereby increasing costs? Perhaps then I will open my new factory just over the border. As another poster has pointed out, there has to be a will from the people. I thought Welsh was compulsory in school to 16. Has this now changed?

Rails of clothing hanging in the main street give the town a ‘Rhyl look’. I thought that positions of signs, goods etc outside of shops were regulated, so as not to cause hazards to blind and partially sighted people. If so, who controls it?

If you have poor service, don’t tell us, tell the manager. It is in our hands to improve things.

But surely all the councillors trialled one for a month to judge how effective they were in use for different families?!!! No? Well, an opportunity missed before spending the money and it matters not whether it was Wrexham CBC money or WA money. It came from the same pocket – ours!

Careful what we wish for indeed! Converting empty shops into residential premises may be part of the solution. What have other towns done? Who is going to rent or buy these quality apartments? Many ‘quality’ jobs have gone. So is it likely the apartments would be filled with people working in Chester or elsewhere and it may become a dormitory area. Consider also the number of jobs which the Council have relocated to Redwither etc from the town centre, for instance the Education Department. No doubt this has saved the Council money, but it is a significant loss of day time trade from the town centre. The demise of the town centre has many strands and will need a lot of energy and new thinking to change this. The Town Centre Forum has energy, the Council need to talk to and listen to stakeholders, hold public meetings and listen. Their mantra is ‘ We do not have the money ‘. There does seem to be an unwillingness to listen. Perhaps they are all just marking time until the next election!1
