Funny how this became a labour vs conservative party issue when the focus is more on the individual. Rather than be seen to address local and national issues in the midst of a pandemic, she wants to deflect by talking about immigrants, which reminds me of the USA with Tik Tok.

I am actually not sure what more they could possibly do to be honest from the reports I am getting from people they are one of the strictest, the issue is the type of custom they would attract and the amount of custom they attract.

I really don’t get the mentality of getting behind someone without being critical of their work, with that kind of attitude you will end of supporting a dictatorship.

There is some ridiculous comments made on here about the political motivation of people to criticise based on the party (please remember it is not a religion) a lot of you end up criticising Labour which is rather hypocritical because with your logic you should be critical of both. I for one wanted to give her the chance, I wanted to see some engagement, I wanted her to stand up for Wrexham, but all we are getting is Michael O’Leary from the 2000’s. He seeked media attention, whilst completely ignoring its customers. OK I am repeating myself, but I seriously need to ask if it is Michael O’Leary in disguise, I guess we’ll find out if she goes anywhere near a billboard with a Ryanair advert.

It gets tiresome the use of left and right this can be seen on many American newspaper forums. I want an adult conversation here not use of the words left, right and snowflake every other sentence or try doing something funny to entertain us.

People’s criticisms are warranted she did send out her support for local businesses, nobody is denying that, people are angry because instead of engaging with her constituents she is promoting a major corporation (while it’s a local franchise, they have to send substantial fees to the headquarters) and promoting obesity. She didn’t even do it tastefully and focus on the social distance aspect alone she used it as a photo opportunity as if she is Michael O’Leary any press is good press attitude.

😂😂 Are you trying to be funny zinger? Does it really matter? Personally I think it would be a nice touch if they changed the name of the pub, its actually no harm to anyone, nobody calls it by its name. I am hoping for a bit of investment to be made for the outside of the pub which is looking rather shabby.

Don’t be silly it’s just about the name of a substandard chain pub and CWrexham has a good point you chosen to ignore Zinger. Support an independent bar/pub in the area and support locals, rather than dreaming about Elihu Yale while supporting Tim Martin.

Zinger why are you insisting on celebrating Elihu Yale? I think it was a lousy name to pick to start with. Do you think that badly of Wrexham that it was the best name they could have come up with?

So you have found some black politicians to be part of the ruling class today, this does not mean society is perfect now does it. Look at the United States for instance where they elected a black President and look at the way they act, it doesn’t mean a thing.

So you have found out that people from different backgrounds can be racist too and it appears you are making judgements based on that.

This seems to get you triggered more than a politician that is ignoring our town, the many wars we participate in, homelessness and more.

I would rather you highlight the media companies and political focus on TV shows and statues is distracting us from the real injustices as that is something I am concerned about.

The tinkering around the edges that the politicians like to do only seems to serves themselves, it’s plain old symbolism and then they wash their hands of it. Then we all discuss things that don’t help the cause, but only serve to do diminish it like the removal of Little Britain or a statue. Nobody really cares about them deep down (they are pretty much setting the boundaries of an acceptable debate) , they want us to discuss this as it means they don’t have to do anything about it.

There is many discussions on here that seems to like to divert attention from their cause, but the movement is not discussing slavery (even though the mindset can be born out of it) they are discussing police brutality and economic inequality which is linked to Government spending, they just want everybody to listen and do their research and you will find that it’s disproportionate, but it affects us all.

I am hoping that we all begin a movement against slavery together because it seems like that is popular on here……

You must have only read the headline they are removing then reinstating at a later with a discussion of the historical context.

As a company they have a right to include what they want on their platform called HBO Max, as they will care about their reputation.

If they completely remove the sale of the TV shows and films in all forms then that is re-writing history, we need to recognise the good and bad and learn from the horrific past and call out what happens around the world during this present time.

I don’t know why they would change the violence in Looney tunes animations unless I am completely missing something, isn’t that playing into the silly ‘Hollywood and the video games industry is to blame’ narrative that the likes of Fox News likes to churn out and not solve the real problem.

The only decent thing about the show Cops was the theme tune, it was part of the problem and as for Little Britain, that was never funny.

Matt is totally right, I am appalled by this. I started a thread about our local MP avoiding its own people and its been used to spread vulgar comments. We should have a safe space for humour and having a debate, but I have no time for comments like that. There are arguments for keeping Churchill and it has already been said they won’t remove him. I can see why people have a point of view about removing statues and putting them in a museum because it provides context rather than just glorifying these people. Its citizens have to pay for its upkeep because its in the public square, that’s why people get infuriated.

The movement is not about black being the superior race, its about equality, its black lives matter too. There have been a number of figures in history that thought White was the superior race so I am happy that you think all lives matter, whatever race, sexuality, gender, age, disability or religion.

There are horrible people in all walks of life so there is no need to target by a specific demographic group. This is not about eroding your right to protest or freedom to have your opinion or not being able to joke without malice/hate.

If you are using ‘left and right’, it was Russia meddling, or blaming the people of a country rather than its Government you are part of the problem.

There are arguments for and against a number of statues, how it was removed and the protests happening during a pandemic I get that that is your opinion. As for the statue in Bellevue Park, Queen Victoria was a head of state not some random slave trader we chose to celebrate back in the day, just because someone donates money whether it be those with a Liberal stance or Conservative stance does not make them a good person, you don’t buy your way into the good books.

No the police will not be scared of arresting a black person, don’t be vitoral in your subversion from the real problem. There are police officers that act morally and are supportive part of the community in the United Kingdom, I for one don’t feel scared of the police in the United Kingdom they are accessible, but in the United States as a white person I find them to be less accessible to the community and are rather scary, it’s the culture that is the problem and the high amounts of expenditure compared to health and education in the US that make them invincible. They have militarised the police and are able to get away with anything they want probably tied to political donations that the police unions send to politicians. While black people are disproportionately affected by all kinds of hurtful policies in the United States they are fighting for change that will not affect them but all races. In the United Kingdom there will be sections of the police culture and use of stop and search tactics have been used to target minorities disproportionately and those tactics have been widely criticised as a way to police the community as this does not engage with the community it puts up barriers. So please do your research and engage before you make this a black vs white issue.
