katyParticipantSad sad day for Wrexham
katyParticipantSorry to have to break this to you, but you mean nothing to councilors. You are just an object that needs to be manipulated into putting a cross next to their name. Once you have done this they don’t give a **** until the next time they want you to put a cross next to their name.
Just like the Lib Dems main manifesto pledge was to scrap all university fees. Then they get the chance to have a taste of power and introduce £10k per year university fees instead. Nick Clegg then (totally unconnected of course) becomes Sir Nick Clegg a few years later.
katyParticipantUsed to see a car that would sit in their driveway waiting for the school bus to go past. Would then drive the less than 100m to the bus stop and pull up in front of the bus so their precious child didn’t have to walk too far or heavens forbid stand and wait for the bus.
Some people are just lazy and you will never change them.
katyParticipantLets take a look at the original report from the Welsh Government when this scheme was devised:
On page 15 we see table 1. This shows there prediction of what would happen if they did nothing (ie no speed limits introduced). It shows that levels were predicted to fall to 31 by 2022 if no measures introduced (levels would fall as older cars gets replaced with newer cleaner engines or electric cars).
So levels of 27.5 during a pandemic when there is massive drop in the number of cars using the A483 is hardly a roaring success compared to the baseline of what was predicted to happen if no measures were taken. There are also probably more electric cars on the road than they would have predicted in 2017
katyParticipantAll the smart town/city projects that have been planned worldwide tend to get scrapped. Even Google backed ones. So not sure why Wrexham feels it can succeed where others have failed. Especially as it has a history of failing with even the most basic of smart projects.
However, having said that, maybe the talking lamp posts idea has some legs in it. Think about it. Local spice addicts heading out to find their next fix, suddenly a lamp post starts talking to them, and now they are thinking maybe they have already had their fix and they don’t take any spice after all.
katyParticipantPlanning permission granted for dumping of old road surface in quarry just in time for the (nearly new) stuff scraped off the A483 to go in it.
katyParticipantWhat do you expect from a company that sacks all its employees and hires them back on a big pay cut?
katyParticipantThere is a direct Holyhead to London service. That will probably continue after HS2 – going at standard speeds to Crewe and then the higher speeds down to London.
So Wales does benefit. Wrexham to Crewe is a lot closer than the vast majority of England is to one of the HS2 stations.

katyParticipantI think the point that they were making is that the adverts (and the people you see on TV in general) do not actually represent multiculturalism. The trend currently is to over represent black people. People from other ethnic minorities do not get a look in. That is hardly multiculturalism.
katyParticipantEveryone knows that the Exec board will vote Yes to the City bid.
Those that would have voted yes to the bid would have voted yes to send it to the board.
Those that would have voted no to the bid would have voted no dont send it to the board. So did this really change anything?
In theory debates may change the way people vote, but in reality most councillors would have already decided whether they want a city bid or not and nothing would budge them from that.
