kaideeParticipantThe last time the stairs in the peoples market had anything close to a clean down was when the tour of britain came to town. I find it so galling to think that wcbc can make an effort to have a “clean up” when there are visitors likely to come to town but, leave it like an absolute ****hole the rest of the time for wrexham people who pay their council tax, some of which I’m sure is allocated to cleaning this area.
kaideeParticipantFollowing on from what jimbow said about only having twenty stalls in the peoples market, and that amount not having enough variety, I think there are only about seventeen or eighteen stalls now that are made up of different lines, the rest has been filled with second hand furniture, I am not saying that this is the way to go but, possibly it is sustainable.
kaideeParticipantAfter just reading the article on councillors expenses, I noticed that according to the mileage figures shown, they should be claiming for 600018 miles not 18 miles, I think someone may have missed out on a few bob there!
kaideeParticipantThe way I see it there wont even be ten current traders in the new scheme let alone thirty, they are looking to put in stalls that are complimentary to the arts. I dont think that there are many stalls that fit in with their somewhat blinkered vision. There is talk of the council helping the traders through the development of the art hub, so that the diruption and the loss of footfall is minimum, I think its a bit too late for that, traders in all three markets needed investment but there was very little done, especially in regard to the peoples market, if they think that putting in an arts hub is going to turn that around I think they will be mistaken.
kaideeParticipantI dont want to sound bitter or anything but, what some of the council staff will be going through now with their future being uncertain is, exactly what it has been like for all the traders in the peoples market since March 2014, being kept in the dark about what is going to happen in the market, the saying”what goes around comes around”springs to mind.
kaideeParticipantBrings to mind the “survey”that was done when they were pushing the Arts and cultural hub in 2014, answers very much loaded in favour of the hub.
kaideeParticipantI had exactly the same happen to myself, my wife’s car had only done 16000 miles but, was 5 years old, when we had two new tyres on the front the chap who fitted them advised us that the discs and brake pads had excessive wear, when I told him that the car had recently passed an mot and the low mileage he said that they would be alright for just a few thousand miles. I would say that the majority of people would just say go ahead and do the work and they only need one or two of these people a day to keep their tills topped up.
kaideeParticipantThe council are quite happy to press on with their plans for the closing of the peoples
market in its current form, even though the response to the consultation on that matter was
only about the same number as the toilets response, don’t make sense to me.
kaideeParticipantI don’t ever recall applying for a job at Asda but, I do the same as the checkout operators when i serve myself, and for less pay
