Are you a councillor BenjaminM? You seem to the sticking up for those poor unfortunates at every opportunity.

Fortunately we have forums like this where anyone can express an opinion, and if you are a councillor you should be hard skinned enough to either take it on the chin or debate the issue, not to attack anyone who has an opposing opinion.

This is all small fry. The ruling group on the Council increased their membership on the executive committee recently which has cost us local taxpayers much more than this.

I have no axe to grind in this matter as I do not park in this area of town, but it is apparent that there are advantages and disadvantages to living there. The advantage being that it is situated close to town and its amenities and the disadvantage is that other people may with to park there to avail themselves of those amenities. Unless the residents moved into their houses in the days of the horse and cart the situation would have been obvious prior to moving there, and whilst it must be inconvenient and annoying at times its something they have to live with. Nothing can justify vandalising someone’s property.

I own a large car and have never had any incidents in the bridge. I rarely need to stop – only when you get the nervous driver who seems oblivious to the two foot gap between their car and the wall.

I have a large car, actually, it’s enormous, vast, can be seen from space.
I put my foot to the boards and take the centre line, lesser mortals and the lower social classes GTF out of my way.
It gives me much social status and protects me with many airbags and stuf.
Living in Wrexham not only have I worked amongst people who have Welsh as their first language but also on a social scale. Perhaps their problem is that they are far too polite to speak Welsh if they know that there is someone in their midst who speaks only English but then of course if they do speak in their own country in their own language they are accused of bad manners.
I agree with you zinger. There are far more people in Wrexham who speak Welsh than most people realise. Because most of the population speak English that is the language which is used. If it was publicised that Welsh was spoken in commercial premises I am sure that its use would be more widespread.
Perhaps someone would be kind enough to tell me, what useful or necessary purpose does the Welsh language have in the 21st Century. Does it help trade or commerce or is it an unnecessary burden on businesses?
I live on a street that has a Welsh subtitled name, but I can say, hand on heart, that if asked what it was,I would not have a clue.

The European Union has twenty four official languages, and yet you say that Wales can not cope with two. On your theses perhaps we should all learn Chinese as China is the fastest growing economy on the planet and obviously in due course there will be very little need for English.
Whilst I agree that it is a complete waste of money and resources sending out bilingual communications, it is patently wrong to blame anyone other than the Welsh Assembly for creating the situation in the first instance, by bringing into being the Welsh Language Act. To compound the matter, there is a 164 point plan issued by the Welsh Language Commissioner that certain bodies and institutions must adopt. We have seen recently that the anticipated cost to WCBC alone, comes to something in the region of £700K.
I agree with danofthewibble’s sentiments entirely in that it should be allowed a natural death and not be forced on people by legislation.
I am firmly of the opinion that the ‘life support machine’ called the Welsh Language Act should be turned off and matters of a greater national importance should occupy the minds of the Legislators in Cardiff.
I’m sorry Benjamin but in your own post you state that the language should be allowed to die a natural death and that no public support should be given to it. Welsh may not be dominant in Wrexham but in some parts of Wales English is the second language.

There are sentiments on here which the Islamic State would be proud of. You wish to destroy the culture and history of your country (or adopted country), and without a past there is no future. I agree that there is much waste in providing bilingual letters for everything, but to suggest that all transactions should be made in English is dictatorial. This has been attempted before in the form of the ‘Welsh Not’ when England tried to exterminate the Welsh Language, but fortunately these are more enlightened times.

I would suggest that those of you who do not like the Welsh way of life are living in the wrong part of the country. All are welcome to live here but don’t try to change Wales into a little England.

To get back to the subject matter of this forum post. I used to catch most of the web broadcasts of the meetings when they were in the evenings, but since the change in timings I have not managed to watch one. Even retired people like myself have interests which they follow during the day, and for those who work it is neigh on impossible to observe these meetings. Even less opportunity to see ‘democracy’ in action.

There was a good reason why meeting were scheduled for the evenings !!

In view of today’s incident in Hope Street they would be better off concentrating on having safe streets during the day!!
