@Andrewmackembailey 18760 Increasingly on issues there are dangers that lead members ,who I am sure work hard are in danger of losing a majority of the views held by others if my discussion with members of other groups on the library trust idea is anything to go by.[/QUOTE wrote:

If the MAJORITY of views are against the views of the lead member, then so be it. Proposals by lead members will be defeated. What you have to take into account is, there are certain elected political parties that abstain from voting. These parties do not have an alternative suggestion, and just waste the vote.

Phil- Thanks for your reply. Maybe you can explain my understanding of the system if it is not correct. The libraries have to save money. An idea is put forward to possibly transfer to a trust to save 75k.
These ideas are then discussed at workshop/scrutiny level. A best way forward is agreed and a report taken to the Exec Board. I would then have thought that you and your fellow councillors had been given every opportunity to express your views as to either a Wrexham Trust or a South Wales Trust.
Cllr Hugh Jones in his report gave you an assurance that either option would be costed and brought before the Exec Board before any further actions were taken.
Why was there a need for you to take your point any further to the Exec Board. Were you trying to undermine the system?
In a previous post you mentioned your hope that the 7 lead members had finally woken up to the fact that there are 45 other councillors.
Your leader of the independant group is also the leader of the council,if it is fact that you believe you are not being listened to,you and your fellow 44 councillors have it in your own hands to make changes.

Cllr. Wynn, I do not understand your agenda. You are an independent councillor, there are 6 independent seats on the executive board. They can out vote any issue under discussion, yet here we have you going against what has been decided by your independent party. Is this democratic?.

JaneJ, I agree about the smirking and sniggers that go on. How about when an individual councillor seeks legal advice from a law firm in London.I think they call it jockeying for position. It comes across as a disgrace

Anybody heard any rumors about the plan for the current Bodhyfryd site? With the application for an extensive leisure site at the old Groves school which I assume will be open to the public during evenings at least, it doesn’t seem viable to build another leisure facility in place of Waterworld as was being discussed last year. I wonder what Plan B might be..

Could it be that the Council have used up all this years funding for CONSULTANTS. If so, then it could be in next years consultation budget. Remember they are not capable of making decisions of this nature without CONSULTANTS.

I don’t know who owns the car park, but maybe they are thinking they can make a killing from the new house building in the Llay area, who knows ?

I have no exceptional powers of hindsight and do not believe that by expressing my view is jumping on the bandwagon. I get the impression from your posts that you are the Council’s No 1 fan. During my business lifetime I have dealt with the Council in my manufacturing business, and also my retail business. Believe you me they leave a lot to be desired. As for positivity how can my one vote change their thinking ?

Why is it that people on these forums can see the problems with sustainability, when the powers that be cannot ?

I quite often shop in the Dodds Lane precinct, I have always had the impression that Tesco never had the footfall that either Lidl or Iceland enjoyed. It is sad to see Tesco go but it does not come as a great surprise.

I can’t speak for others but until recently I had made the decision to commit myself full-time to the role of County Councillor since being re-elected in May 2012. Sadly being of working age, with no silver spoon, I’m reassessing the need to return to paid employment as £13k pa doesn’t stretch that far.

How do you think Pensioners keep going on £13,832 per annum to keep two people?:(
