jimbowParticipantPinky02, By asking a firm from outside Wrexham to produce a report, one would hopefully expect that report to be impartial. By asking a community council to submit a report, how accurate could that report be? You only have to look at the support from the community council in Llay, against the planning application to build 350 plus houses on open space. The community council report may well not have all open spaces declared on it, for fear of future building applications. Just a thought.
jimbowParticipant
I There again what do you expect when you give the contract to a firm in Bury to produce?
Pinky02, can you elaborate on what is wrong with a firm from Bury, doing what the Council ask it to do? If you have a problem with the expenditure and reasoning in giving this contract, then your gripe is with WCBC.
jimbowParticipant
Anyone with an ounce of commercial sense would by now have put up signs to direct people away from the closed car park to one of their own!
The car park outside the Peoples Market has been free for about two weeks due to the ticket machines being vandalised. Dylan, don’t tell everybody.
jimbowParticipantThe Council tell us they are looking at ways of increasing revenue. The 3 Wrexham Indoor Market rents income total around £250k.This is all for the Council’s back pocket, the running costs of the markets are paid for by the tenants through a separate service charge account. There is also around £12k a year income from the outdoor market. The Council have never re invested any money back into the markets. To me the Arts Hub in the Peoples Market and the loss of market stall revenue is a backward step. It defeats the object of trying to increase revenue in the first place.

I can imagine the uproar on here if the council decided to fund this work from their general budget whilst cutting back on “front line” services.
So why not try this innovative method. If you don’t want to contribute, don’t.
I do not believe that there would be uproar if this project was funded by the general budget. The Remembrance Day Service is funded by the Council, and Council staff and Counsellors can claim back their mileage allowance for attending. The Council have spent millions on the museum, cannot this project be funded out of money set aside for arts etc.
jimbowParticipant
I attended the planning meeting this afternoon. There were 5 labour councillors on the planning committee, one of those declared an interest and left the room. Out of the 4 left, 3 of them spoke out about this development. I would say they were very vocal!
What about the Labour councillor that stood up and said he did not understand, and therefore he was going to abstain from voting. What a complete waste of a vote. If you do not have the powers to understand you should not put yourself forward for election.
jimbowParticipantthe Labour group being a minority of 13 out of 52. You only have to look at the policies!
Why are you in the minority ? Answer You all vote together to ABSTAIN from voting on a regular basis. Who on earth is going to elect a person with no bottle.
jimbowParticipantI can visualise it now, when the roads are named Captain Terrace and Saxon Close. The Captain and Saxon standing proud together knowing that progress has won the day.
jimbowParticipantIf you do click on too the Council’s site to fill in the consultation, this time you can’t complete it with out answering every question, they cover everything from your postcode, age , marital status and pregnancy !!! Obviously they want to put as many people as possible off filling it in !!
I agree with you wrexview. The Council can have secret meetings, yet they require to know all about the person replying. It certainly put me off.

jimbowParticipantI am afraid jok the evidence is mounting up. You should submit yourself to the stocks in Queens Square on a Saturday morning, and run the gauntlet of thirty wet sponges.
