Now the decision has been called in, together with the great deal of public interest. Will the Council allow the Scrutiny Committee meeting to be webcast, in the interests of transparency.?

Katia :- If you read the Fourth Street Report on the Hub/Peoples Market, you will find 10 parking spaces for free to Oriel staff. There is no provision for free or subsidised parking for traders. I believe at this moment in time with an all day charge of £2,the car park is nearly full by 8.45 am. One of the reasons being that, the car park behind the Museum closed. What will happen when the charges increase to £4 per day when the Oriel take over the car park ?
There were rumours 18 months or so ago that The Range would be taking over the former TJ Hughes, but they never became anything other than rumours.
I am not surprised, the former TJ Hughes has no car parking,an essential for The Range.

Thank you for your response MP1953 … most interesting, will you provide further info.. obviously not disclosing personal details?

My dealings are nothing to do with this particular matter, but it is quite remarkable how an authority get away with being so unprofessional without being challenged to much.
You are not allowed to challenge the Council. Once a decision has been made even at a low level, officers higher up will mot change that decision even though the first decision in your opinion may be wrong. The Council are answerable to nobody. I have a case at the moment where I am knocking my head against a brick wall .

    ddraig,
I am not against an Arts/Hub as such. I find it difficult to understand the Business Plan to sustain it. I do not know if you have read the Fourth Street Report or not. The Hub will rely on revenue from the People’s Market . The Fourth Street Report tells us the Peoples Market is presently losing £246k per year. The Rent for the Café is quoted at £32,500 and on top of this there will probably be a Service Charge of around £20k. This is a lot of pie and chips to break even, and we are a pie and chips town, we are led to believe. I really do have reservations about the magnitude of this project.

So you would have each consultation explicitly ask each Wrexham resident?
When you have to make decisions on projects, are short of funds as WCBC are, is it not the first thing you ask . How much will it cost? Or do you go ahead willy, nilly

ddraig. You quote 60% of respondents agree with the proposal to have an arts and cultural space at the People’s Market. When they were asked, were they told that it would cost 4.1/2 million pounds to bring to fruition? I guess not, as I believe on the same lines as MP1953,the 60% may have turned out to be 2%.
