Maureen the key issues is not about funding but how do Health and Social Care make the professions desirable to join. Yes, better wages is one carrot but for many it is far more about job satisfaction.
It also needs to be recognised that many nursing staff are now looking at being a Bank Nurse as their career of choice due to flexibility and higher wages rather than being a permanent staff member. This may be suitable for the individual nurse but it is costing the Health Service a huge amount over and above budget and making the nursing budget unsustainable.

First and foremost is that any politician no matter what Party are elected by the people based on a set of promises within a manifesto. Deviations are inevitable when there are outside influences such as the war in Ukraine, but the c ore promises should be adhered to. The Conservative Government propped up by thir back bench MPs have reneged on so many promises that are 100% under their control.

Dictionary definition of what an MP is – A Member of Parliament is a person who has been elected by the people in a particular area to represent them in a country’s parliament.

Note the words represent the people in a particular area – not represent the views of the conservative voters- to achieve this they must engage and listen then evaluate the feelings and views of the constituents as a whole and not just go along with the Party Whip in order to support the Gouvernement in the hope you will gain favour and end up with a portfolio job.

If Wrexham was not in Wales all of the questions the constituents, ask about. health, education, social care etc would all still be the same – Ms Athereon’s constant defence of Conservative Westminster decisions by saying the fault of failings is due to the Welsh Government just does not stack up.

The lady needs to look towards her own Government Environment Department and advisors who have been imposing significant restrictions on housing developments for at least 5 years. Phosphate is not a Welsh Government issue. She needs to get her facts right in the first place and stop trying to score political points

The theory of less sickness equals more money for wages is fine but in practice you need to look at the reasons for sickness. The NHS stats show that nearly a third of all staff on sick are still with Covid or other infections. The large majority are stress related due to the pressure that the staff are under – many are doing 12 hour shifts often back to back for 6 days many literally dealing with life or death, drunk and abusive patients, are just a few issues other people could not cope with no matter what level of wages are paid.

Wreview — simple answer, the majority came from the money being saved from all of the vacancies across the Health Services so not a great deal of ‘extra’ funding. Also many nurses decide to work as agency as they get paid more for a lot less reasonability. All nurses on the agency listing know that there will always be plenty of work for them due to an overall staff shortage.

Yes there is a need to increase wages but that will also drive up the fees that the agencies charge. Untill there is a significant influx of new nurses the spiral will keep spinning.

Owain Glyndwr looks like your photos is a bit of false news as it was not taken in Wrexham when King Charles was her last week. Was this taken in Cardiff in the summer?

The issue is bigger than Plaid’s stance and that is why have the public not been told in advance- many people might have wanted to take their children, but no opportunity has been given.
Appreciate this is not possibly in the control of the Council but someone needs to recognise that City Status is for all not just a group of elites who do not represent the population of Wrexham – a guest list that has been hand picked.
