InterestedParticipantI disagree Locallad a lot of the people you see around the town are local.
Some of the guys around the town have been knocking about for years, some I know from my school days. Bottom line it is right that support is provided but the abuser needs to be open to help. Sadly this is where it all falls flat.
InterestedParticipantI’ve spent some time researching the author of the report as many above have and it is worrying.
The Council appointed a person who did not identify failings in her own team. You could argue that the experience may have made her more aware but on the other hand she may not have a clue. Just cant get my head around how she can attack someone for passing concerns on. Also does anyone know how much was paid to carry out the INDEPENDENT investigation?
Having got the bug I researched the Chief Executive of WCBC as well. Interesting read and would encourage people take a look.
Benjamin said posters can be selective on what they take from the report which I agree they can. But other posters also look at the report and take in the information and form different opinions. In view of Rotherham this report should be torn up and the authority should ask for the Welsh Government body to come in and carry out a thorough review. It’s the only way of clearing up this mess.

InterestedParticipantMy view on how they could balance the books
1. Start by looking at the management structure, it is too top heavy.
2. Collaboration with another County on delivery of services
3. Income generation – something the council seem very poor on.
4. Complete merger with an adjoining authority. It is a pity that the recent change around has not meant for a big change in those holding the Executive seats. Talking to a Council Officer last week in his opinion they have only had one Lead Member actually take a lead, and now that member has gone due to the new administration.
Well time will tell, but we need to see real change.
InterestedParticipantI think we are in for a very bumpy ride. This coalition is on very thin ice by the look of it. I wouldn’t be surprised if there are a few disgruntled Councillors within Mark Pritchard’s Group. Whatever possessed Mr Pritchard to form a group with 10 Councillors who have already shown there view on democracy and voting. My maths isn’t too great but 10 of Neil Rogers against 10 of Mark Pritchard, can Mr Pritchard rely on his 10 to be at every meeting where a vote is to be taken? If not Mr Pritchard may find himself out voted.
The wrangling isn’t over by a longshot!

I cannot believe that Clr King would have just conjured up concerns so what about those staff that felt they could confide in a Lead Council Member have they now been offered support by senior managers. What about those staff that felt they did not need to say anything as they had confidence that a report was being produced.
What opportunity have the staff been given to now raise concerns as they have seen what has happened to Clr King. Irrespective of whether the original issues were right or wrong the Council has now developed a culture of fear that means people will keep quiet for fear of demotion or even the sack. The Council have got to build a lot of bridges with staff or we will find Wrexham being the centre of a major safeguarding problem. My concern is as above. Any Councillor that is approached with concerns has to act. The language used in the report seems to me too concerned with discrediting the Councillor rather than answering the questions. Just my opinion.
Crossed fingers and hope to god it doesn’t happen but this report seems to paint everything as rosy so should anything happen in the next week, month, year that has direct relation to the initial complaints where will that leave WCBC?
InterestedParticipantHi Guys first time post but have read with interest the discussions on the forum.
I watched the webcast and as like other posters was disappointed with the level of debate. I also think the stance by the new Leader on the possible merger disappointing. I think Dylan touched on the fact there has been no debate and as far as I’m aware no vote. So my question is how can he and Neil Rogers state that the council voted overwhelmingly against any merger??
I think more information is required especially in the public arena before anything can be discounted.
