….It might sound controversial but the star rating system must have its own limit – getting a 5 star does not mean you wont get food poisoning (even a top restaurant like Fat Duck had that once)
Your example has got nothing to do with what we are discussing though, we are talking about food hygiene ratings, the Fat Duck incident happened at a time of a national outbreak, with contaminated food at source.
@steven 7086 wrote:buying from a lower rating meat butcher or restaurant may still be ok.
Why would you take a gamble, it is potential risk to life, the system is in place to monitor and enforce hygiene standards with the main goal being to reduce food poisoning and foodborne diseases., the outcome appears bleak to me if the establishment has no regard for this.
If you were to contract me to fit a boiler, what would you rather, an install that might leak gas and carbon monoxide into the premises (0 rating) or an install to the best of my ability, upto the highest standards of current building regulations (5 rating) it’s a no brainer.
@steven 7086 wrote:But, this is the important bit, surely they will take the food hygiene matter seriously to get customers back.
Food establishments have a duty of care to the public, this is a legal obligation, if there internal standards have fallen so low to get a 0 or 1 rating, which should never happen, then they really don’t deserve to be in business, much less have trusting customers handing over hard earned money and why should they, there are 5 star butchers a short walk away, with awards aplenty
@steven 7086 wrote:Did anyone contact them about their explanation?
What could they possibly say? we stopped caring about our internal hygiene standards :(
GasManParticipantStick to Williams for now, 5 star, I have just checked Jones Bros and they have got a 2 star rating back in January, I know the owner and am very disappointed with him now, i shall be having a word

…… Another decision to make!
I think the decision was made for you when it got a 0 :D
GasManParticipanti know what i am having for my tea tonight then, steak burger, thanks for the heads up. I use this butcher a lot and he is great, plus free parking in the multi-storey, only a 2 minute walk.

If any Government has nothing better to do than to read my inane messages on FB or my two Tweets per year then I feel sorry for them.
I have nothing to hide so I have nothing to fear from any snooping that goes on. I have always suspected that this happens but I thought it would be the UK government. It never crossed by mind that it might be our friends over the pond.
Data that is gathered from someone’s private life, taken out of context, can hurt them enormously. Even if you have ‘nothing to hide’, what is taken out of context can sometimes be damning.
An ex colleague of mine was using MSN years ago, discussing his upcoming holiday and telling her how much of a nightmare/dangerous this boiler was, in this chat he mentioned an airport, aircraft type, going off like a b–b, referring to the boiler, everyone dying etc
He was refused to board the aircraft, without explanation, that took him 8 months to sort out and this was over 7 years ago.
Just look at the Holocaust for a great example of why we should fight for our privacy, that started with a badge, a piece of cloth sewn on the jacket or blouse. Do you think any of the Jews conforming to that law, or the communists, gypsies, homosexuals, or other groups rounded up by the Nazis who did not speak out to help the Jews, had the slightest suspicion they would end up in gas chambers or in front of firing squads? It took less than 10 years for that to happen
GasManParticipantI knew this place would turn out to be a complete dump the second time we went, the first we let off because it was new, the standards are far to low, the staff don’t care and it now transpires the place is rotten at the core.
I am so glad about that law coming into force, in regards food hygiene ratings being compulsory to display.
Fongs Garden = 5
Sleepy Panda = 4
Eastern Sheraton = 3
Ko Sing = 3
A Taste Of India = 2
Eastern Touch = 1
Anise = 5I am so glad the chinese and indian, i use most (and only for the time being) are a 5
GasManParticipantWhy not just post what you are going on about, instead of acting like an elitist idiot.
GasManParticipantIn Manchester, most likely other larger city’s, you can order online from local shops, food, clothes, household items, all sorts and they will delivery them, within the hour, to your front door, so i am not saying local business need to close down. Nothing like this goes on in Wrexham, Maplins is the only major chain I know off that does 1 hour delivery, but ours doesn’t
